Members gathered today for our second annual chapter “Friendsgiving” pot luck. Our resident chef Craig prepared another delicious trash can turkey, accompanied by every side imaginable brought by others, and the desserts, oh the desserts. One thing is clear, nobody ever leaves hungry from our events.

Thursday night a few members (Jason, Craig, & Devin) had an impromptu mid week build night. With the absence of too many distractions managed to get the electric trim on the Zenith wired and functional, one item officially crossed off the punch list. Craig & Devin utilized the time to also help each other prepare for upcoming checkrides.

Another great build day at the field. We debriefed our chapter trip to Oshkosh, made some progress on the Zenith (thank you Devin), gave plane rides in exchange for smiles, kids rode atv’s, a couple RC airplanes were sacrificed to the sky gods and finally food, drinks and fellowship with friends.
Next month will be our annual camping trip to Greenville.

A huge thanks to everyone who, despite the dismal weather, came out to our first annual Wings of freedom event yesterday. Great fun, great friends, great food, and great music.
I also had the extreme pleasure of surprising Mike Watson with an EAA Lifetime membership, gifted to him by the members of Chapter 736 for his 30 years of service as chapter President.

We had another very well attended build day and meeting this past Saturday. A representative from KBGR ATC came to socialize and answered plenty of questions from members present. Progress was made on Craig’s Ace and the Springbird project. Our annual pilgrimage to Oshkosh was discussed and plans finalized. POSTPONED

UPDATE- Saturday’s weather is looking like rain. Rain does not contribute to a great flying experience.
The Young Eagles event is postponed til September 13th.

We are watching the weather for Saturday. As of now, it looks like more of what we’ve had so far this spring/summer. Rain. We will be making a determination later this week to have the event or delay til a later date.
