The way people work has changed. Has your workplace kept up?

96% of leaders plan to update their workplace in the next two years, and the number one reason is flexibility. But flexibility is not just about where people work. It is about how they work, and whether their environment actually supports them.

Three things make the difference: giving people real choice in how and where they focus, integrating technology so it works with your team instead of against them, and designing spaces that can evolve as your organization does.

Your space should work as hard as your people do. Read the full Steelcase article to see how to make it happen.

As the need to improve connection and enhance adaptability at work continues to increase, having a flexible, well-designed workspace is crucial.

Congratulations to Pickering Associates on receiving the AIA West Virginia Merit Award for Achievement in Architecture for the Building 2000 Renovation at Momentive Performance Materials.

This project was a rebuild from the ground up, and the finished space is stunning! After a severe storm displaced Momentive's entire team, the challenge was to design a space employees would actually be excited to return to. They delivered exactly that.

Franklin was proud to be part of this project, and this recognition couldn't go to a better team. Congratulations, Pickering Associates!

Franklin’s Falkbuilt team partnered with Black Boot Builders to rework their office using Falkbuilt Ltd. prefabricated walls, moving beyond an open layout that had become noisy and outdated for their team.

As they explored different options, a local partner became critical. Being able to step into our showroom, see the product firsthand, and work through details in real time gave their team a level of clarity and confidence they couldn’t get elsewhere.

From a builder’s perspective, Falkbuilt offered a more efficient approach than traditional construction while delivering an elevated finish that closely aligned with their marketing package. Check out the video to hear their perspective.

For this downtown Pittsburgh financial office expansion, the objective wasn’t simply adding a second floor. It was about creating a workplace ecosystem that supports how people actually work today by balancing focus, collaboration, and connection.

By integrating flexible workstations, high-performance meeting environments, and a central café hub, the space was designed to adapt and support both individual productivity and team-driven outcomes. The result is a cohesive, future-ready workplace that aligns with brand, culture, and long-term growth strategy.

The takeaway is that growth doesn’t just require more space. It requires smarter space designed around behavior. Check out the full project case study by going to:

Enzo found the best seat in the house!

This month’s Franklin dog calendar feature stars Enzo, owned by Anita of Michael Baker International. Relaxed, happy, and clearly comfortable, he makes it easy to see what a well-designed space can do.

He’s pictured here with the Viccarbe Colubi Armchair, Season Sofa, Fedele Armchair, and Ryutaro Tables, all sitting on the Moooi Eden Queen Rug. The mix of color, pattern, and texture brings just the right amount of energy to the space.

A big thank you to Enzo and Anita for being part of this year’s photo shoot! Proof that the right combination makes all the difference.

When timelines are tight, every decision matters. On a recent project for a university healthcare department, the goal was clear: complete installation quickly while still delivering a high-quality, fully functional environment.

By bringing our furniture and interior construction teams together early, we took a more efficient approach from the start. Falkbuilt Ltd.’s prefabricated wall systems helped compress installation timelines, while thoughtful design-assist recommendations simplified key details and kept the project moving without delays.

The result was a faster overall construction schedule, with no compromise to quality or performance. Check out the full case study by going to:

Franklin's leadership team recently visited Falkbuilt Ltd.’s HQ in Calgary, where they got to walk the factory floor, see digital components being built in real time, and see firsthand how their technology translates into real-world spaces.

What stood out most was the people. The Falkers bring a level of passion for their work and belief in the mission that is hard to miss. You can see it in the way they think, the way they work, and the way they challenge what construction can be.

With Falkbuilt, your walls aren’t just walls. They’re designed for people, built for change, and ready for technology without the usual compromises.

AI is not just changing how work gets done. It is redefining when and why people come together.

The organizations pulling ahead are not treating the workplace as real estate. They are designing it as a performance system that enables faster alignment, sharper decisions, and stronger innovation.

That requires intentional support for three critical moments: sharing information, evaluating options, and generating new ideas. Each demands a different environment, and most workplaces are not built for any of them.

The question for leadership is simple. Is your workplace accelerating performance or slowing it down?

Steelcase breaks down what it takes to design for real collaboration today:

As AI changes the way we work, it changes the ways people collaborate. Learn more about different types of collaboration and how to design spaces that support them.

What makes an office worth the commute? For Tobii Dynavox’s move to Coraopolis, it meant designing around how their teams actually work.

NEXT architecture and Franklin partnered with Tobii Dynavox to create a workplace that supports hybrid schedules, strengthens in-person collaboration, and right-sizes the space based on real usage patterns. The result is an environment designed for diverse work modes and “a seat for every body,” with the flexibility to evolve over time through a circular leasing strategy.

Ashley, Justin, and Darrin led Franklin’s portion of the project, helping bring the furniture planning and installation to life alongside the broader design team. And if a few of the people in the photos look familiar, it’s because some of our team members stepped in as models for the day 😉.
