This Labor Day, we’re especially grateful for the people behind the work.

Every project that leaves our shop is made possible by the skill, patience, dedication, and teamwork of the people at Linear. From the shop floor to the office and everyone who helps keep things moving, each person plays a part in what we create.

Today, we honor the people, past and present, who have helped shape Linear into what it is today. We’re thankful for the hard work, knowledge, care, and commitment you bring every day. Your contributions will always be part of the Linear story.

Clean lines from every angle: this credenza was built in rift-cut walnut with a rounded profile on both ends.

The curved end doors open with a touch latch, keeping the front completely free of hardware and letting the grain do all the talking. From the raw panels in the shop to the finished piece, it is a good look at how much precision goes into a shape like this.

A full home bar build taking shape in rift-cut walnut.

The layout includes two full-size fridges and a freezer, all with grain-matched fronts so the appliances blend right into the cabinetry. Tall cabinets on either end house pull-out drawers and shelving, with up and down LED lighting built in to add depth once installed.

This linen cabinet was built to sit inside a hallway opening and all but disappear into the wall.

The carcass face has a dado cut in to receive the drywall corner bead, so once the drywall is finished, only the doors are visible against a clean, flush wall. Painted to match the hallway, it reads as part of the architecture rather than a piece of furniture.

From bare cabinet to finished piece: this floating vanity was built for a home with a vessel sink set offset to one side.

The four-drawer front is fitted with a trim detail to hold a full length aluminum pull, giving it a clean, integrated line across the face. Finished in lacquer tinted to match Benjamin Moore Stillwater, the deep blue-grey brings a quiet, moody tone to the bath.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our own, Mike Brandon.

Mike was a valued part of Linear Fine Woodworking for many years, playing an important role in the company and contributing greatly to the work, the team, and the people around him.

He was more than a coworker, Mike was family. His dedication, friendship, and presence will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

Rest in peace, Mike. You will always be remembered.

From shop to install: this laundry room piece was part of a small project we completed in Seattle.

Built with a mix of cabinet storage, open shelving, and a tall linen or utility closet, it was finished in a tinted precat lacquer for a soft, matte look that fits right into the space. A good example of how a straightforward build in the shop translates into a clean, finished result on site.

Another take on a design we've built out a few times, but always fun to see it come together in a new wood species.

This oak dining table features a geometric angled base, with panels wrapped around aluminum plates for added strength and a crisp, defined form. Finished in a deep, dark stain, it takes on a whole different character from earlier pieces built in this same shape.

Some builds test every skill in the shop, and this one was one of the top.

This oval dining table features a curved walnut veneer pedestal base, stained dark, with compound curves that had to be built up in sections and shaped by hand before the veneer could be applied. Getting the base to read as one continuous, seamless form took serious time and precision.
