Arcadian Cottage specializes in handcrafted furniture using reclaimed barn wood that is over 100+ years old. The specific wood we select is becoming rare as old barns and structures slowly disappear across the United States. We are most recognized for our farm tables using this historic wood. Our tables are made to resemble those found in an early 1800’s American or French farmhouse. The old wood

tells stories of times past with natural aging, knots and nail holes to make an authentic art piece of history, while being environmentally friendly at the same time. Variations in the table top – color, nail holes, knots, wood grain and saw marks are to be expected and celebrated. The "imperfections" in this wood give our tables character and will become classic family heirlooms to be used for many generations. Our master furniture craftsman, Christopher McGean, has been building furniture for over 20 years.

The natural light in our client’s California dining room beautifully shows the characteristics in the reclaimed barn boards used for the table top. Our process is a unique art - we hand sand each board to preserve the essence of the historic wood while bringing out the natural warm patina with our custom French wax finish method.
