Texas Tech vs. Texas - WCWS National Championship Series

They met last year, where Texas won their first national championship in school history with a 2-1 series win over Texas Tech. Now, comes the rematch.

Game 1 tomorrow night in OKC in a best of three series.

Texas Tech defeated top-seeded Alabama twice Monday night behind another dominant performance from pitcher NiJaree Canady to advance to the championship series against Texas, the first title rematch since the WCWS adopted the best-of-three format in 2005.

Florida and Miami will meet again in men's college hoops, this time though to start the season in Tampa. Huge marquee game between two programs who have done some incredible things in men's hoops this decade. Miami went to a Final Four (2023) while Florida won a national title (2025).

Florida defeated Miami, 82-68 last year in Jacksonville but now the teams square off in Tampa in the Orion-180 Classic in the nightcap following the Florida State-Florida A&M game in Tampa earlier in the evening.

Well, just like Florida State that is a wrap for the Florida Gators as well. Hours after Florida State fell at home to Saint John's in Tallahassee, Florida was routed by Troy 10-2 on their home field as the Gators saw their season come to an end.

With Florida losing to Troy, all major Florida schools are done for the season. Central Florida, Florida State and Miami also all fell in regional play.

The Gators lose to Troy in the Gainesville Regional Championship Game to see their season come to a close.

Georgia Bulldogs will host defending national champion Florida State on Thursday, September 3 in Athens and then visit the Florida Gators to end the regular season.

Of note, Georgia travels to TCU who also made the College Cup last year but fell to eventual national champion Florida State.

However the one to note is the August 20th home match against James Madison which is being played in the football stadium AKA Sanford Stadium. Should draw a good crowd.

Tallahassee – Florida State men's basketball team will open its 2026-27 season against Florida A&M in the Orion180 Tip-Off Classic held at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa on November 2nd, it was announced Monday. The event also features a matchup between Florida and Miami.

One of the worst kept secrets around, been known for a few weeks but the official press release from Florida State University confirms that Florida State and Florida A&M will meet in Tampa on Monday, November 2nd to begin the season.

This game will be the first of two games, with Florida and Miami being the marquee Monday night showdown game 30 minutes after the FSU-FAMU game ends.

Miami and Florida met last season in Jacksonville, but Florida State and Florida A&M have not met since the 1991-1992 season.

Arizona State fell in a thriller to Ole Miss, 7-6 in 14 innings in the opening game for their NCAA Tournament in the Lincoln (Nebraska) regional. Arizona State heads to the losers bracket where they will have to win four straight games to advance this weekend.

But damn, what an effort from the Sun Devils whose luck ran out in the 14th inning.

Better late than never, right?

After a more than 7+ hour weather delay, Miami and Troy decided to play Friday night into Saturday morning baseball with a game that ended just after 2 AM EDT Saturday morning in Gainesville, Florida.

Miami defeated Troy, 10-5 and will be in the winner's bracket game tonight against Florida.

But a win, even if you are playing until after the bars and clubs close in Gainesville is a win. Miami advances in the Winner's bracket and will take on the Florida Gators tonight in Gainesville.

The Hurricanes fought through a four hour and 15 minute weather delay and pulled off the regional opener with a big eighth inning.
