Power outage at Doak Campbell Stadium delays the SMU-FSU kickoff. Quite ironic in that Florida State has suffered a power outage in the football program since Jimbo Fisher left in 2017.

What a national joke that they can’t get the lights on for a nationally televised showcase on between SMU and FSU.

On a bright note, Jimbo Fisher at field level has to bring back some incredible memories for Coach Fisher.

Go Noles.

UCLA opens Bob Chesney era with a 45-24 win over former Pac-12 rival California http://www.espn.com/ncf/recap?gameId=401858210

Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele is going to be a star, but damn he had a night he wish he could forget in Berkeley. Especially the 4th quarter where he threw multiple INT's as UCLA scored 21 points thanks to multiple INTs and had short fields. UCLA defeated Cal 45-24 on Saturday night after a surge of points late in the fourth quarter that broke open a tie game.

Bob Chesney (UCLA) and Tosh Lupoi (Cal) were new coaches in their debut with their schools. Chesney and UCLA can enjoy the flight home to Los Angeles after the Bruins defeated their old PAC 10/12 rival.

The former Pac-12 rivals met at least once every year from 1933-2023 before the series took a break when UCLA left for the Big Ten and Cal joined the ACC. The realignment that started when the Bruins left the Pac-12 with USC has raised the rancor between the schools and led to a ruling by the UC Regents where UCLA has to pay Cal $10 million annually in what is known as “Calimony.”

Cal may get their 10 million, but the Bruins get the win.

Lane Kiffin's debut with No. 11 LSU matches the hype in a 51-10 victory over outmatched Clemson http://www.espn.com/ncf/recap?gameId=401856660

Safe to say the Lane Kiffin era at LSU in Baton Rouge is off to a pretty damn good start.

LSU handed Dabo Swinney his worst loss in his Clemson tenure, 51-10 in the real Death Valley on Saturday night. This game practically was over by the end of the 1st quarter as LSU was able to bounce back from an early INT and 3-0 deficit to rack up 51 straight unanswered points in a blowout win at home over Clemson.

LSU defeated Clemson 42-25 in the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship in New Orleans on January 13, 2020 and then won 17-10 at Clemson last year. In the Battle of the Death Valleys, LSU is now 3-0 since the 2019 season.

Case closed, no more debate.

The real Death Valley is in Baton Rouge.

Oh, and LSU is pretty damn good too. Lane Kiffin returns to Oxford in two weeks, we'll know more if LSU is this damn good or if Clemson is really falling off the landscape in college football. Swinney's refusal to embrace the portal though could be his downfall. You have to think Clemson boosters and fans are getting sick of seeing them get smoked by SEC teams in the first game of the year and last year was rocky at best. Two years in a row of mediocrity won't sit well in Clemson.

Michigan 13, Western Michigan 12 | https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/49851734/unfair-last-play

Western Michigan president Russ Kavalhuna said Sunday that he didn't "discern anything unfair or untoward" with the Big Ten's replay decision that put an extra second on the clock, leading to Michigan's game-winning touchdown pass in Saturday's 13-12 win over the Broncos.

Kavalhuna said that he was up late Saturday night speaking with Big Ten officials, including conference commissioner Tony Petitti.

"He was gracious enough to let me talk with some of his staff who are over this issue," Kavalhuna said. "And it is just a discrepancy. What the viewing public see and what the reviewing officials see are different and that's clear."

On what appeared to be the final play of the game, Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood sailed a Hail Mary pass beyond the end zone into the arms of Western Michigan safety Micah Davis. TV replays showed the clock hitting zero with the ball still in the air.

But Big Ten replay officials put a second back on the clock, giving the Wolverines another play.

With the second chance, Underwood threw another Hail Mary, and JJ Buchanan hauled it in for a 47-yard touchdown.

Western Michigan coach Lance Taylor said Sunday that "ultimately, the refs did not cost" the Broncos the game and that people shouldn't feel sorry for his team.

"If we make the mistake of making an excuse, it allows us to be bitter instead of getting better," he said. "That's where we want to go as a football team."

Yeah, this is complete and total bull s**t. You can cover for the B1G officials all you want, but the reality is that they blew this call. The game should have been over when the first Hail Mary attempt sailed out of the endzone. Period, the game was over. But let's get real here. Betting lines and money dictate collegiate and pro sports for that matter. There was some serious money that was on the line, so some things got changed and Michigan was the benefactor of a stunning (second) Hail Mary TD (that shouldn't have fu***ng counted) that gave them a 13-12 walkoff win (cough, cough).

B1G officials and crew who worked this game should not be doing another game in college football this year. Absolutely a fu***ng joke and screwing with the integrity of the sport when you are allowing results to be fixed based on some egregious (saying that nicely, BTW) errors.

Michigan won this game on the books, but the public saw otherwise. I think though they are big trouble this year. Underwood really struggled and now you have a solid Oklahoma team coming to the Big House this week. Should get interesting.

A day after the Broncos' last-second loss to Michigan, Western Michigan president Russ Kavalhuna said Sunday he didn't "discern anything unfair" with the Big Ten's replay decision that put an extra second on the clock, leading to the Wolverines' victory.

FINAL: Stanford 4, Santa Clara 0.

Stanford looked every bit the top ranked team in the country today, going into Stevens Stadium and dominating Santa Clara 4-0.

Charlotte Kohler with the 8th minute goal to start the scoring, but it was Jaden Thomas with the hat trick (18th, 27th, and 51st minutes) that provided most of the scoring as Stanford rolled in their last non-conference match of the regular season before they begin ACC play against second ranked Duke next Sunday in Durham.

Soccer battled No. 9 North Carolina - Sun Devil® Athletics https://thesundevils.com/news/2026/09/6/soccer-battled-no-9-north-carolina

North Carolina 1, Arizona State 0.

The Sun Devils (4-1-2) dropped their first match of the year at home on Sunday, allowing a 33rd minute penalty to North Carolina in a 1-0 loss. Fresh off a late goal against Dartmouth in Tucson on Thursday, Arizona State returned home on Sunday and could not avoid their first loss this season. But hell of a defensive performance against a blue-blood championship program in North Carolina.

The non-conference portion of the schedule concludes on Friday night at home against Grambling State.

TEMPE – Less than 12 hours after Sun Devil Football recorded eye-popping offensive numbers at Mountain American Stadium, Sun Devil Softball was locked in a defensive battle – that was ultimately determined by a penalty kick in the 33’ – against No. 9 North Carolina inside Sun Devil Soccer St...
