It’s such a joy to get to be part of this great project here in our hometown of Corvallis, Oregon. Such teamwork among 80+ volunteers and a great partnership with the Greenbelt Land Trust and the Timber Framer’s Guild. We’re building a beautiful pavilion here at Bald Hill Farm in Corvallis. The building is already starting to go up and by Saturday should be complete.

Here’s a little personal project using the Mixol Red #4 pigment in our Exterior Finish I thought I’d share so you can see how bold the color can be. I’m turning an old Cedar wood shed into a little roadside farm stand, first giving a wash down from all the debris and spiderwebs. I let that dry for a day or so- we were having 80-90 degree days so it was fast. I mixed 500 mL into a 3.5 gallon pail of exterior finish, put it into a garden sprayer and applied one thick coat one day and the second coat the next day, back brushing everything really well. You really need two coats for the pigment to really show bold. It’s best to leave to dry out of direct sun and with so much pigment mixed it, the finish is a little slow to dry so my advice is not finish a piece of furniture for a client and give it to them the next day! We LOVE sending oil to the Girls Build programs here in the PNW! They make such wonderful projects that always impress! Were always thrilled to see what they’re up to. This is a one week camp in Grants Pass, Oregon happening now. They made these beautiful checker/chess boards and finished them with our non toxic, Beesblock Oil. Photos by Rene Allen, instructor.
