Big life update - We are moving to the Hudson valley in October!
We're looking forward to being closer to forests, a change of environment, and being closer to family up that way.
After calling Philly home for 17 years it's a bittersweet transition and we're grateful for our time here and everyone we've met over the years.

As for favors:

Jobs - Woodworking/cabinetry business contacts in an hour radius of Kingston NY. We'd love to get recommendations and/or connected if you know businesses up that way.

Housing - we're looking for short term rental housing while we get settled, find jobs and look into longer term housing options. If you know anyone who has a rental or have recommendations let us know! (we have two large, well behaved dogs).

We have some plans in the works but always love a personal contact or recommendation so please reach out if you've got em!

HELLO! SUNDAY 2/15 2PM-6PM we will be in the shop, we have organized a ton of cutoffs, boxes of firewood and lumber we need to get rid of. We want to redistribute as much as possible and throw out as little as possible. We're looking to sell usable lumber for cheap so come by and make an offer.

Hey folks, big news. Swipe for the story or read below - thanks for everything ❤️
Dear friends, clients, peers and followers,
It is with complex emotion we announce that we will be halting production for the foreseeable future and shutting down our studio. We are considering this move as a hibernation rather than a final ending.

Ten years ago Greg was working on his first big furniture commission (shout out to Crime and Punishment Brewing Co). We were newly married, freshly out of college, opening 2 small businesses and managing a third. We had no idea what we were doing, but we were excited to give it our best shot despite our inexperience and try to live boldly.

Since then, we bought a house, rooted into Philly in community, gardening, activism and tons more. We bought a sawmill and partnered with the Awbury Arboretum to salvage tens of thousands of board feet of lumber. We dreamed and labored and created. We designed a furniture line and worked with FAIR Design in NYC and participated in ICFF 2024. We built furniture for authors, sports stars, wood enthusiasts, artists, friends and family.

And now it’s time to change things up. We are certain we’ll return to this work, we can’t keep our noses out of design. But this iteration is coming to a close.

Small business is always hard. Slow-fashion, hand made, built to last, carbon negative; none of these fit well in the modern market, competing against multinational companies, designed obsolescence, monopolies, sweatshops, global supply chains and the vampirism of the billionaire class. We could talk for a long time about this, we know who our enemies are, and we salute all the other small businesses trying to get by with their souls intact through late stage capitalism.
Long story short we have some life goals we want to focus on and sadly we can’t keep doing this work alongside accomplishing those goals.

We are retaining this page and our website to give periodic updates, please keep following along.
We will likely be posting some equipment, showroom furniture and lumber for sale.
If you know us IRL we're down for a chat or a hug. Everything has its seasons, looking forward to what's next!

2024 was a big year for us! Celebrating the wins: 

🌟 We participated in ICFF for the first time, a goal years in the making

🌟Celebrated 10 years married and 10 years in business

🌟Created a few new designs including a mirror, green sling chair and our first yarrow draw lead table.

🌟We made a bunch of counter stools 🫠😙

🌟Our sling chair was included in an Arch Digest Italia article about a beautiful BuiltIn project in SoHo 🖤 link in bio.

🌟Milled a bunch of felled trees with Awbury Arboretum, consequently sequestering a lot of carbon from re-entering the atmosphere 

We have some news in the works but right now sitting with everything last year brought, grateful for every moment.

👋 Kristen and Greg here to say hi! Hope your summer had sparkles of joy and relaxation. We've been hustling and definitely found time to get outside and enjoy the (not 100*) summer weather.
We are really looking forward to the fall, as I'm sure many of you are as well. As things get back into gear with school, work, clients etc we want to remind you to get in touch with any future projects you have! We've been making a lot of counter stools, and also have our furniture line offerings or can talk custom pieces. All designed by us, hand crafted, carbon negative, from trees grow in Philly. We can ship anywhere in the USA.

We are very conscious of waste in our studio, so we try to throw as little as possible in the dumpster.
Luckily we have some amazing local urban farms that we partner with to distribute our sawdust!

Here I (Kristen) am with Jasper the goat and a few chickens at Hart Lane Farm in Kensington. This place is a true beacon of beauty and care in a neighborhood that has been hard hit by the opioid pandemic. They provide community engagement, grow food to distribute to neighbors and cultivate hope and light. Please follow them, and consider helping out on a work day or donating to the cause!
