About Our Instructor

Timothy Corts has been building, repairing and/or restoring stringed instruments for the last 43 years. He graduated from both the regular and master classes held at the Charles Fox School of Luthiery in South Strafford, Vermont from 1971 to 1973. He continued his studies on site at Scherl & Roth Violin Company in Ohio for an additional six months under 5 German Master Violi

n Makers. While living in Knoxville, Tennessee, Timothy also operated ‘Deep Woods Products’; a company that used his skills to build custom hardwood furniture from the log itself and repair or restore existing furniture in need of refurbishing. He was also hired to act as the onsite technician for several National Acts that would play at the various venues in Knoxville; as there were few actual ‘technicians’ traveling full time with groups during that era. Timothy has lived in the Paducah area for the last 13
years and was with Music Zone; in the repair & sales departments for 11 of those years. He is well known and respected in the musical community and recently partnered with Dan Rushing; having opened ‘Stringworks’ at 21st and Broadway, in Paducah, Kentucky. Further, he is a songwriter, independent producer and guitarist who can be heard;
occasionally performing or sitting in with fellow musician friends or groups.

We need God back in our lives. Gun control is mot the answer to our problems. People with hate in their hearts and minds are the problem. Bad people can always get guns just like alcoholics and drug addicts
can get what they want legal or otherwise. Wake up America.

Hello Everyone ... We just wanted to give you a heads up about a couple of things happening here at the shop. First, we're going to change our shop hours for the summer. Tuesdays through Fridays will remain the same (9:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. Daily), We will remain closed on Sundays and Mondays. However, our 'new' summer hours for Saturdays will be 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. beginning Saturday, the 30th of May. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but we've determined that the 'traffic' times on Saturdays are between those hours. Generally after 3:00, other than our 'bench' time in the shop, you could almost hear crickets in the background. We would be grateful to all of our friends if you would pass the word around.

Secondly, I am taking a short break beginning on the afternoon of Thursday, the 4th of June to visit my brother Marty for the weekend. I will be back in the shop on the following Tuesday (the 9th) @ 9:00 A.M. as usual. So technically, I'll only be physically away from the shop the afternoon of that Thursday, and all of Friday and Saturday. I'm just re-charging 'my' batteries a bit.
Most, if not ALL of the 'set-ups' and other repairs will be on hold during my short absence. We 'WILL' however; be open for business as usual so we welcome everyone to stop and visit, shop with us or; in the case of needed repairs; drop off your instrument(s) as long as you are comfortable with the fact that they will not go on our bench until I return that following Tuesday. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but; I need a small break to rest a bit and .... 'vacate' ...

Finally, last but CERTAINLY not 'LEAST' ... All of us at Stringworks would like to congratulate our newest additions to the live music scene with the recent openings of "Dry Ground Brewery" and "Paducah Beer Werks" !!! Both are superbly suited to Paducah's vibrant Artist/Music scene. Additionally, they have
created new and exciting venues for live entertainment; both locally, regionally and nationally. With the likes of additional venues like Maiden Alley Cinema, JP's and others, the artist and musical community in Paducah is thriving and continually growing. Our sincerest best wishes for the continued success of the Breweries as well as all of the regions 'live music' venues. God Bless .... Timothy, Dan, Angel & Thomas.
