See that stump back there in the yard (circled in red)? That’s where this hickory tree grew.

After getting struck by lighting and then taken over by wasps, it now has a second life at the heart of the Naimans’ home right here in Oxford. All of 100 feet away from where the tree grew! We slabbed it right there in the yard (dodging the wasps!), dried it in our kiln, and then brought it back home where it came from. Suffice it to say it was worth the investment.

And, the kitchen cabinets and all of the trim in the house is already hickory. So everything matches perfectly!

THE GRAND REVEAL!

The Kerns were so pleased with their new kitchen table that they immediately commissioned us to also build them a dining room table from the same tree!

We counted the rings and figured out the tree was 150 years old, meaning it predates the farmhouse, watching over the home from the beginning.

Now it gets a second life at the heart of the home, the center of every family breakfast and game night!

✨️ Finishing touches! ✨️

There’s something special about taking a tree that grew on a family’s land, giving it new life, and bringing it home again as a piece that can be enjoyed for generations.

This white oak came from the Kerns’ front yard, where it had stood for nearly as long as the farm itself.

It took 100 years to grow this tree. Here’s to the next 100 years of family gatherings, shared meals, and memories made around it.

Stay tuned for the grand reveal next week!

We’re on a red oak streak!

The Delamotte family is renovating their kitchen and wanted the warmth that wood brings. We built this red oak island from a locally harvested red oak tree and they are in love. Stay tuned for the matching bartop + backsplash.

Sixteen feet of solid red oak for 28 guys to share meals around.

The Ark of Decatur County is a faith-based addiction recovery home for men in Indiana. Their director reached out to us with a dream of a table that they could all gather around for meals, fellowship, and brotherhood. We said, “Let’s make it happen!”

Three months later, here it is. In their own words, “This is the nicest thing we’ve ever had in the house.” Everyone was so kind, considerate, and appreciative.

This book-matched red cedar table is special, because the table sits less than 30’ away from where the tree grew.

The Hamiltons had this beautiful aromatic red cedar tree in the center of their backyard, but a year ago, a windstorm blew it over. Ed reached out to us to give it a second life, and 12 months later, the tree is once again a part of their family, this time in the center of the home as their every-day kitchen table.

Their grown-up daughter was visiting when we delivered the table and commented that she’s known this tree for her entire life. It was older than her!
