Hi everyone! The YHAP/OCO Health Ed Team is continuing our Hotspot Highlight campaign on our social media platforms to show our condom hotspots throughout the county! Each month we will post photos of locations where we supply free condoms to prevent the spread of STIs and promote positive sexual health and accessibility. ❤️🌈

A condom hot spot is a place in the community that community members identify as a Safe Space, where they can stop by and grab condoms for free, no questions asked.

The purpose of this recognition is to protect communities by encouraging conversations with healthcare providers about vaccination and ensuring that both children and adults receive recommended vaccines.

New York State observes Syphilis During Pregnancy Awareness Day on the fourth Monday of August each year. The day promotes the importance of consistent testing for syphilis throughout pregnancy. Syphilis is a curable STI with medication, but if syphilis is passed to a fetus during pregnancy it can result in negative health consequences for a baby ❤️

SHAAD focuses on highlighting the disproportionate impact of HIV in the Southern U.S., particularly Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. August 20th emphasizes the urgent need for HIV testing, prevention, and linkage to care, including access to PrEP. The HIV epidemic in the South is closely tied to social determinants of health, including poverty, low household income, housing instability, systemic racism, and limited healthcare access.
