This walnut slab has already been claimed by a local business and will soon become a custom bar top.

And honestly, we can see why.

The grain, the color, the movement—it’s the kind of piece that makes people stop and stare.

The thing about slabs is that no two are ever the same. Once a piece is spoken for, that’s it.

The good news? There are plenty more waiting to be discovered.

Stop in, take a look around, and see what catches your eye. No appointment needed—just come browse.

What would your dream slab become? 👇

Walk-ins are welcome! Enjoy the beauty of live edge wood slabs salvaged from the urban forest of the midwest!

If you really want something, you WILL find a way! 😂

People are always worried slabs won’t fit in their vehicle, but at this point we’re basically experts at getting wood into cars it probably shouldn’t fit in. 💁🏻‍♀️

I regularly haul 10’ slabs in my Subaru, but this was a first for me. I’ve put logs in trunks before… just never a 104” log with a Y union. 😂

With a little teamwork 💪(and encouragement from a VERY good client) we made it happen.

Big thanks to Marv's Tree Service for hauling this one in for us. We save as much as we possibly can, and this piece was too good to pass up.

One of the biggest ears we’ve seen, plus burls, twists, and all kinds of irregular character. The crew were great sports getting it loaded up.

So if you’ve ever hesitated to stop in because you’re not sure how you’d get something home, we have one piece of advice: don’t overthink it. 😉

Come browse. Find something you love. We’ll figure out the rest. 😌👌

What’s the most questionable thing you’ve ever fit into a vehicle?

Some of the best pieces we’ve ever made… started as things most people would’ve thrown away.

Pinecones. Leaves. Branches. Beans. A lifetime supply of cotton balls. 😂
Just moments in time we decided to keep.

We don’t always know what something will become—
just that it’s worth saving.

Pieces like this are one-offs.
Once they’re gone, they’re gone.

But the ideas behind them?
That’s what sticks.

If you’ve ever wanted to build something unique, this is the kind of place where it starts.

Stop in and take a look around—no plan needed.

We cleaned up the woodshop this week and still have a number of quality small pieces in the showroom! Come pry them out of our hands before they mysteriously disappear (and reappear in the workshop 👀). iykyk

We cleaned up the workshop and ended up with a pile of good hardwood blanks and strips that didn’t make slab size.

Walnut, Cherry, Elm, Sycamore, and Birch.

Great for pen turning, small bowls, handles, epoxy projects, or shop builds.

Most pieces are just a couple bucks each.

Come dig through the pile before they end up in the fire pit. (This is the 3rd time these trees have gotten a chance at another life 😆)

What would you do with something like this? 👀

This mushroom cluster grew naturally on this little log, and it was too cool to throw away.

So my dad mounted it on a piece of sycamore and burned our Urban Slab & Timber logo into the base.

Now it’s one of my favorite oddities in the shop.

People pick up things like this all the time — tree ears, root balls, wild bark, strange cuts from the mill — and I’m always curious what they end up doing with them.

Do you turn them into art?
Use them in terrariums?
Just display them because they’re cool?

If you’ve bought a tree oddity before, drop a photo in the comments. I’d love to see it.

And if you’re into weird natural pieces like this, you should see the pile we have in the shop right now.

No appointment needed — just come browse.
