Gratitude.
We are sitting here trying to find the words, and honestly, “thank you” is simply not enough. We are deeply humbled and filled with eternal gratitude for every single one of you. Because of your love, your text messages, your calls, your FaceTimes, your honks, and your social media shares, the missions reach grew tenfold over the weekend. You helped this mission reach way more people than we ever thought possible.
When we started walking, the goal was to highlight the meaning of Memorial Day, which is to remember those no longer with us and to honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. It was also to shed light on the heavy reality that veterans are deeply struggling with issues post service. This journey highlighted something even bigger: Veterans can lean on civilians, and civilians can lean on veterans.
At the end of the day, we are all human beings. We all carry heavy burdens in life, even if they are invisible. We all have a story. We all experienced different levels of trauma. We all struggle. THAT is why we need each other.
QUIT THE ISOLATION. Put down the screens and begin connecting face-to-face. Quit watching others live a life on social media and start living yours. Follow your own path. Create your own memories. Write your own story.
Find your tribe. Join a gym. Join a club. Join a league. Join a church. Volunteer. Get involved!
No more fighting the battles alone.
Because of the absolutely incredible support you’ve shown us over the past two years, we have a massive announcement to make: Next year, we are officially opening this event to the PUBLIC!
We are going to turn this into an incredible event for good. We want to set the absolute standard for what a family, veteran, and locally-owned business can do to give back to its own community. We want to play our tiny piece in making Kansas City a better place, while supporting those who are currently struggling and honoring the families who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
This is just the beginning. MUCH more to follow.
Thank you, KC. Thank you to everybody that followed along this journey. We love you. Let’s keep this momentum rolling. ❤️🇺🇸🦅⚡️
