25 years ago today, I walked into Heenan’s for my very first day on the job. 💚
I had no idea what was ahead of me, but I remember what I was wearing (a new “grown-up” outfit from The Limited, bought on my first credit card) and how I felt the first time I heard the little bell ring on the front doors. Magic!
Tom and Randy had more faith in me than I had in myself, and they never stopped encouraging me. They pushed me to grow in my field, coached me in the art of buying, sent me to Markets (and trusted my crazy purchases), introduced me to THE BEST design professionals, schooled me in setting the showroom floor, and taught me the ins and outs of the furniture business, something I knew nothing about before Heenan’s.
Without their encouragement, and that of my family, friends, coworkers, fellow interior designers, and clients, I never would have had the confidence to purchase the store in 2011, making me the third owner of this amazing 76-year-old store.
I grew up in this old building. I raised my AMAZING children here (with the loving assistance of my “village”). I’ve been inspired every day by our local design community and the shopkeepers who make this town what it is. Along the way I’ve made lifelong connections... acquaintances becoming friends, friends becoming my family.
Twenty-five years of you welcoming me into your homes and trusting my vision to turn your space into the home you’ve dreamed of. You’ve trusted me with some of the most personal spaces in your lives, and that’s an honor I’ve never taken lightly.
To Tom and Randy, thank you for believing in me. To my STELLAR crew, past and present, thank you for your hard work and heart. To my kids and family, thank you for every late night and busy season you’ve patiently seen me through. To our vendors and fellow local businesses, thank you for believing in this place. And to every customer, thank you for coming back, for telling your friends, and for becoming part of our story. It has been the honor of my life!
Twenty-five years in, and I still LOVE walking through these doors. This community built Heenan’s, and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of it. Cheers to the next 25! 🥂
