πThis first chair is a client/ friend owned piece I restored for extra seating for his large family.
He initially sent me a few pics and told me he pulled this chair out from a storage shed at his cabin up north & asked " is it worth saving ?" My initial response ( in my head) was ewhhhhhh... put it on the curb! BUT he really wanted me to see it ( and you know I'm a sucker for pieces in really terrible condition πππ)...So he brought it over , and after further inspection ( it's a solid, heavy oak chair)& some sweet talking by this character π I was knee deep in restoring the chair!!! ( I DISLIKE chairs BTW)
It needed a full rework ( had a ton of old paint on it), so a total strip sanding & restaining was necessary. The chair seat was a disaster, so it was deconstructed and I started over : gluing loose wood on seat, making a new seat pad with fresh foam and batting, and applying the new, client chosen upholstery to seat. The upholstery was THICK, which gave me fits when working on the corners( went with 2 small pleats in each corner) BUT I think my perseverance paid off and I am really happy with how it turned out!!!
πThe second cane backed chair is one I thrifted for my personal office space years ago! I had purchased this sample quarter fabric from to use as the seat cover and then promptly allowed the chair to sit for YEARS without being touched.
Well... I had the staple gun out so I figured I may as well tackle this WAY overdue project as well!!!
Phew!!!!! Grateful the custom work motivated me to finish my own chair BUT now, at least for awhile!!!π€ͺπ€ͺπ€ͺππππͺπͺπͺ
