Tree clean up continues but I promised you some woodworking this week. Finished up the register grate coffee table and it is FOR SALE. Imagine it sitting in front of your fireplace with a couple of to***co colored leather chairs, or the centerpeice of a large sectional sofa in your family room. I'll give you a minute with those thoughts..........

The table is made of reclaimed antique white oak. The register grate is an antique Caloric grate. The wood is finished with Rubio Monocoat chocolate hand rubbed wax. The table is 46" sq x 18.5" tall.

And did I mention that this one of a kind beauty is FOR SALE! Buy direct from my shop today, soon it will be displayed at one of my retail partners.

Phase 2 and Phase 3 complete! The company cleaning out the tree tops and the gentleman cutting down the trees completed their work yesterday. Guess I'll have to add a phase 4, cleaning up the yard. In all we lost 14 entire burr oak trees and countless more were trimmed up. Anything over 3" in diameter I will cut into firewood except for 8 - 10 logs that we are going to set aside and possibly use for a dream project. The smaller trimmings will probably become ash. House repairs are plodding along, new roof is on and that is the most important thing that needed to be done.

Phase 2 of tree clean up from storm damage we had about a month ago. Our home is surrounded by oak trees. Many of them had broken limbs just hanging in the tops that had to be removed. Some branches had already fallen and it is just too dangerous to be in the yard if we didn't do this. We had already cleaned up many large broken off limbs and 5 complete trees in Phase 1. Phase 3 will be removing at least 7 more trees by a professional. Fun fact for homeowners - your homeowners insurance doesn't pay for tree cleanup if the tree isn't laying on your house.

We'll get back to furniture next week.

A different kind of woodworking today. Last night's storm resulted in 7 trees on the ground, 7 that need to come, a few that have significant damage that needs to be removed and a few that were already dead and need to come down. In all we will lose about 20 trees
Also had some damage to our house. Argh!

Working on new ideas this week with two goals in mind. ONE - challenge my creativity, TWO - to see what appeals to new potential clients. This one is FOR SALE and can still be customized to fit the clients ideas/use. So far it is 46" square, the frame is reclaimed white oak from a former local warehouse. The center is an antique Caloric heat register grate that my wife spotted in an antique store.

So where should it go from here? I have an idea for a base that would make it a coffee table. BUT, if you are interested in purchasing this very unique table we can design something that you want it to be. Pub table? Dining table? Your idea for a Coffee table? It could be for your home, cabin, restaurant or man cave. Imagine the possibilities!

Call today to make this very unique table yours! Otherwise I'll proceed with my plan and it will be for sale at a retail location soon!

Here it is! 72" round, single pedestal, solid cherry dining table.

This table started from a vision my client had. She had a photo of a table the she liked one feature of and knew she wanted it round. After some discussion and measuring we pinpointed some details and I did a pencil drawing. After agreeing to the project the work began.

After about 95 hours of build time we had a table ready to ship. It is going into new construction and the client will have it finished by the same person doing other finishes in their home.

This was a fun build, can't wait to see photos in the finished home soon.

Have you had an idea for something unique for your home? Gives us a call, we'd be glad to make that idea come to life.

Here it is! The big slab was approximately 75" square and then, wa la, it was a 72" round table top. The whole process actually took about 2 1/2 hours, twisted our way around the slab 14 times. During the process I had a tooling failure which required repeating a couple steps. Now a few hours of sanding.

How big is a 72" round top? Well, let's go back to 1st year algerbra. Remember pi? It's how to calculate the circumference of a circle. Pi = 3.12........ x the diameter of the top, 72". 72 x 3.12 = 224.64". I usually calculate 24" per place setting of a table, so, 224.64 ÷ 24 = 9.36. This table will comfortably seat 9 - 10 people. That's a nice dinner party!

Time to finish the base and sand. And sand, and sand. Talk to you in a few days.
