Tonight was delivery night for this large hutch. The last picture was the original antique piece that was unfortunately lost in a house fire. I redesigned it based off of that original photo, and a door and inner shelf that had been salvaged that I was able to pull some measurements off. Besides the beaded back panel, this is solid red oak with a quarter sawn red oak face, doors, and drawer fronts. Stain was matched to their dining table, and antique hardware was sourced. A few updates were added such as soft close hinges and drawer slides.

This was by far the largest (and heaviest) project that I have done to date, and was such a confidence builder as a woodworker. Nothing will ever replace the original, but I hope I got it close. So grateful to be able to work on this.

I finished this river style headboard recently, complete with built in reading lamps and a cool color changing backlight. These walnut slabs were actually ones I purchased locally and had dried for me. Really thrilled with the results!

I had this cutoff from a Claro Walnut Slab that was way too awesome to get rid of. Made a great towel hanging rack. I really love working with walnut, but the different colors in Claro are just beautiful.

In news that will surprise no one who knows me, I've had this table done for months and am just now getting around to posting pictures.

This was an awesome slab of spalted sycamore from Omaha Wood Company, LLC. I used many coats of penetrating epoxy to soak in and harden all of the soft and p***y areas. My wife wanted a copper epoxy fill, which really goes with the tones of the sycamore. Super happy with how this one turned out, the base from Rusty Design is a perfect match for what I wanted the end product to look like.

I finished this table with Osmo Polyx as always. This was also my first time using a ceramic nano finish- N3nano. Really easy to apply and has held up to abuse from a 3 year really well so far.

It's always rewarding to make a project for our own home.

The coolest table base Iโ€™ve used so far.

I picked up this Slab of spalted sycamore from a few weeks back. Took a lot of work to get the cracks and crevasses cleaned out and prepped. The same spalting that gives this such a unique color and grain pattern also weakens the wood considerably, so I used about a gallon of penetrating epoxy to stabilize before I could even get it ready for this pour. A ton of work, but I think itโ€™s going to be worth it. Went with a copper pigment, seems to match the colors of this slab well. Oh yeah, itโ€™s a dining table for our home.

I believe this is maple burl, but Iโ€™m honestly not 100% sure. Iโ€™ve got a ton of this stuff on hand, decided to see what it would look like as an epoxy board. This is without any finish! Going to be making a lot more of these in the near future.
