Turning old into GOLD 🤪
Husband and wife duo that love to add our personal touch and modern flair to used and worn down pieces of furniture… after all… why not try to save them from the landfill?

Here it is folks, the first project of 2025 completed. This has been sitting with us since the summer of last year and after 20+ hours of work it took to finish its COMPLETE! After scrubbing it down and then getting the old finish off I finally decided to glam it up. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I still have yet to find that flavor. So, a big thanks to my husband for the encouragement and support he unwaveringly continues to gift me to follow my hobby.

Measures 65 inches tall 35 1/2 inches wide and 15 1/2 inches deep . It’s available for purchase.

I’m looking forward to showing you this one.šŸ‘€

Here is a throwback on a project my sister and I worked on together during one of her weeklong visits. We squeezed it in between runs to the beach and some time in with family.

If there is one thing you must know about my sister is that she has a classy and timeless sense of style throughout her home so I wanted her to choose her color (as I would have likely chose a very wild color so she couldn’t help but think of me anytime she looked at it). šŸ˜‚

We prepped the piece really well and filled in the holes from the previous hardware as she wasn’t keen on keeping the original pulls. What a great decision she made! It came out gorgeous!

The last photo is a recent one of it in her home (as I’ve only been asking for 2 years for a pic 🤣)

Thanks sis! Love you 😘

Update: SOLD with the help of little floral shop up in Alachua FL called Kelly’s Kreations. After meeting the owner I learned that she started an organization called Josh’s Place years ago to give the kids in the community a safe place to spend their time and offers support they may not have at home. We could not have been more happy to know the money earned went to such a great outreach program.

Here’s a link if your interested in learning more about Josh’s Place:

I STOLE this desk from Goodwill!!! Ok, not like the five-finger discount you’re thinking but for $3! I walked out of the store that day and squeezed this thing into the trunk of my car and just smiled. In all honesty, it was likely priced at that point because of the STENCH inside. (Ewww)

In my mind this little thing had POTENTIAL and boy was I right! After cleaning it up with a degreaser and sanding it down that paint just absorbed right into the wood. This desk, judging by the joint construction, was built sometime in the late 1800s and was long overdue for some TLC.

Using what I had on hand, it was first painted with the intent of highlighting its worn look by mixing DB Sea Salt with County Chic’s Chalk Paint in the color of ā€œLazy Linenā€ (which is a light beige) for texture. Following this, the second layer Dixie Belle’s ā€œDusty Blueā€ gave it the perfect look. I sanded and scraped down the texture a bit which exposed the wood and hints of beige color underneath.

The smell was washed out after soaking it a 50/50 water:vinegar solution , scrubbing it out, and then letting it soak up some sun rays. Once it dried out it was ready for an adhesive liner and then some of my go-to furniture salve by Wise Owl. They have all kinds of scents in this brand but ā€œwalk in the woodsā€ is one of my personal faves. The wood was so dry that it just soaked it right up. This stuff is so worth the money!

The chair happened to be one we had around the house which rarely gets used so it was paired up to match. Although, it desparately needed some new cushioning and upholstery so I took a poll and changed the look with some material we had on-hand.

Update: SOLD! A big thank you to Miss Jenna who took this beauty home today! 😊

It’s rare to find pieces that are in good shape AND the original working keys. Here is the sister to the secretary desk below. It’s a blend of several Annie Sloan paints in several coatings over her and finished with sealer. The colors are eye-catching in person and will be a delight for the person who gets to take her home. I will admit that it was a bit of work in matching the trim and decorative pieces on the glass front doors but it was totally worth it in the end. Don’t you agree? (The BEFORE photos are in the posting below)

To our followers and supporters…. I am proud to say we FINALLY finished a staging room! Woot woot!!!!
Ultimately my pictures never really showcased the beauty of the work we have done to refinish a piece. Sometimes it’s disheartening to do this, even as a hobby only to turn around and have someone offer you much less that what you paid for material. Which is why it’s so important to highlight the work done the first time around. If it doesn’t help us move pieces any quicker in the end I still got a room reno out of it 🤣 There’s a white wall for a clean crisp background and an opposing dark moody background that will make those colors pop against it. So here it is… drumroll please … and thank you my dear sweet hubby for all of your help too. Love ya babe ā¤ļø

Ok, it’s bad. Like too many projects going at one time kinda bad. šŸ˜‚ I promise to get them up for you to see once I get some of these finished and can get pictures of them on our NEW staging wall!

In the meantime, here is another one that has lovingly made its way into its new home. I found it at one of my favorite thrift stores. Made of solid wood but those red wood tones made my conscious whisper ā€œpaint meā€ and so I listened. The top was sanded down revealing the wood grain underneath that was given a light white wash and the frame was painted with a chalk paint. It was more of an afterthought for in adding some IOD seashell moulds but gave the entry table it’s own little flair. The last part was sealing it up, too with clear coat and the body with AS clear wax.

Perfecto! Even got the pic of it set up in its new space.
