It’s great to have help working and all, but when the help falls asleep one the job productivity suffers. But who’s gonna move her? Not me.

The link below is the new page I have created for anyone interested in my instrument work. I have begun to focus more on the instrument side of things more than the “gifts”, and felt a name change was in order. As explained in a previous post, the Facebook AI won’t let me make the change, so I have started a new page if you’d like to follow it. Thank you all for your interest and support!

Guitar maker in Charleston SC

06/12/2019

Hello all. I have begun to focus on bespoke instruments made from mostly found materials. For this reason I attempted to rename my page, but the Facebook algorithm said “no”. I have an appeal in for manual review but don’t have high hopes. There is a good chance I have to start over (which is not a big deal). So if you wish to continue following my work, I will be inviting you to like a new page. Once I’m happy with the new layout I will post a link to follow. But for now, I want everyone to know why I’m having to abandon this one.

Now go make some beautiful noise!

In honor of a coming name change for my hobby/side business, I have made a guitar body entirely of left over construction bits! The main body is an off cut from a structural beam that my main business replaced in a local home. The pickguard is just a piece of blue pine offcut that I shaved thin and carved a bit. The neck has no interesting story, it just works. As soon as my shipment of magnets arrives I can make pickups for this and two other beasties.

Two more ready for pickups and strings. I have pick guards for these two and the root beer finishes one I posted earlier, but I’m really digging the simplicity of a ring around the neck pickup instead.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I put experimental pickups in this and, well, it sounds terrible! Thin and buzzy with no life. Fortunately I have new magnets on the way to perhaps solve that problem. So sorry, no sound clips till it sounds good! But it turned out looking kinda cool, so at least I can show it off.

Soooooo close! The bit to drill out the input jack hole turned up missing. I guess I’ll have to wait till tomorrow to string her up and give her a test drive. This particular guitar has a set of experimental pickups that I’m anxious to try out. Demo on the way!

I love me some single pickup guitars! This hollow, LP inspired body started as off cuts from a deck I built and scraps of sepele from a local door manufacturer. Then the whole body was aged with an acid treatment to grey out the tannins in the wood. The pickup is a tele. After preliminary testing, the resonance of this beast is insane! Ringing for days, super bright and a better crunch tone than clean (unusual for a single coil). A few neck adjustments and a proper demo to come.
