Sometimes, the most meaningful projects are the ones that challenge us in new ways. Scott Keith, who usually builds large furniture, decided to take on a smaller, more personal build which was a beautiful jewellery box for his wife.

Combining the rich, dark tones of walnut with the warm hue of makore, the box came out strikingly well.

But Scott quickly realized that this small project required an entirely different level of precision. Unlike his larger builds, a jewellery box demands careful attention to every detail, where even the smallest inaccuracy can affect the final result.

In order to have the action that the box needed, which was smooth and reliable, he resorted to JB-102 Brusso stop hinges.

For Scott, these hinges were the perfect solution, ensuring the lid opened and closed with reliable accuracy. What began as a heartfelt gift became a powerful lesson on how the most intricate projects can truly test a woodworker's skill.

In 2020, one of our customers began their woodworking journey at the Ted Harlan Woodworking School. Within a year, Katharine King was assisting with classes and by 2022, she had left her day job to pursue woodworking full-time.

The first time she built this box, she was learning to hand-cut dovetails. The next time, she was teaching it.

Katharine recalled Ted telling the class that Brusso hinges were the best quality and now she tells her own students the same. For this project, she used JB-102 box hinges.

This story reminds us that working with wood isn’t just about the projects, it’s about sharing knowledge and skills from one maker to another. With the right tools and hardware, that tradition lives on.

Julien Hardy doesn’t shy away from making a statement. His latest liquor cabinet is a sculptural blend of natural edge and clean geometry—designed to draw the eye and hold it.

The live edge doors bring movement and texture, while the crisp joinery keeps everything grounded. It’s a piece that balances wildness with control—modern, but deeply rooted in craft.

“This liquor cabinet required the best available hardware to not lower its quality and visual aspect. As usual, I turned to Brusso, as they set the standard for high quality hardware.” —Julien Hardy

Julien builds with intention. Every element is chosen to support the story the wood is already telling. The result? A cabinet that doesn’t just store—it performs.

Steve Nichols’ woodworking journey took a serious turn when he moved to hand tools.

After getting high-quality planes, chisels, and more, he realized he needed a special chest to store them all, a piece that would also become a family heirloom.

"I migrated to doing most of my woodworking with hand tools. After purchasing many quality planes, chisels, etc. I decided I needed a chest to put them all in and pass along to my sons." — Steve Nichols

Made with black walnut, this chest has a lid panel and interior drawers made of mahogany, with a maple inlay on the door. To preserve its beauty, Steve used boiled linseed oil, making sure the finish would last while avoiding chips

The tool chest is supported with the Brusso JB 107, which adds just the right touch of quality and reliability while giving it a timeless touch.

Steve's amazing talent and creativity, turned wood into something he can pass down to his family as an heirloom.
