Primer and paint going on the base panels and shelves of this craft table. Chad built a little paint room to keep the paint contained when we use the sprayer 👌🏼. So excited to see this piece come together!

🆕 Product Drop ‼️

🍇 The Marseille Charcuterie Board 🧀

Gather with family and friends around the centuries-old tradition of serving a variety of meats, cheeses, and accoutrements on a charcuterie board. Charcuterie is derived from the French words for flesh (chair) and cooked (cuit).

Your solid white oak charcuterie board will be the centerpiece of your dinner party. Finished with food-grade sealant, this piece is low maintenance and a simple way to dress up any hosting occasion, whether it's Thanksgiving dinner or girls' night!

Love how our DIY butler's pantry came out 😻. This empty little nook between the kitchen and dining room was just dying to give us extra storage and counter space. We went relatively frugal and got stock cabinets and a butcher block countertop ... but it's chevron 🤩👌🏼. We were able to use white subway tile leftover from our house build too!

🆕 product alert ‼️

Reminiscent of the English countryside, our Hampshire dining table is the ideal platform for your holiday and family gatherings. Its solid, handmade construction will allow this heirloom piece to be in your family for generations. Choose between walnut, maple, or pine (sample photos are in walnut with no stain, only a sealant). Note, we will not stain walnut because it would be a crime; we will seal it so it appears as in the sample photos and is protected from scuffs and spills.

Your custom-built dining table will be handmade at our shop in northern Virginia. The materials we use are 100% natural hardwood, no veneer or MDF. Walnut, Maple, and Oak products are kiln-dried. All tables are finished with multiple coats of polyeurethane.

Last Tall Pine team introduction goes to our shop pup, Cabela 🐺

Cabela is a silver lab (a chocolate lab anomaly) who turns 9 in February! We got her at 6 weeks old for Audrey's birthday (and because Carrie wanted a puppy too 🥹). She's K-9 off-leash trained, which was one of the best investments we ever made.

Her other interests include counter surfing for bacon, shredding tissues from the trash can, finding the best sun spot in the house (or wood shop) at any given moment, and barking at leaves 🍂

If we could get her to wake up from her day-long naps to pay attention, I'm sure she'd be excited about our relaunch too!

Next up for shop intros: our Tall Pine kiddos!

As a small family business, our kids are deeply involved in our day to day operations. Sometimes they go with us to select lumber, they pop into the woodshop and ask to "help", they watch Chad build products and Carrie build product listings on the website, and sometimes they even get to witness the happy faces of our clients when we deliver their finished piece.

Our hope is that from this involvement they see hard work, creative expression, entrepreneurial passion, the value of working with your hands, and the magic of what can happen when you teach yourself something new. Chad knew nothing about woodworking 10 years ago!

Tall Pine kiddos' other interests include soccer, baseball, field hockey, ballet, trying to "help", using Chad's dust collection system to create "beaver pipes", and drawing in the saw dust.

We are jumping out of our skin to open our family business back up in a few weeks. Don't forget you can browse the site and even preorder to reserve your spot in line! The last time we were open, we had ~ a 6 month waitlist on orders (good problem to have)! So if you know you want a new dining table for Easter, let's start chatting now! 🐣

Continuing our shop intros ahead of the relaunch: this is Carrie! Co-founder and COO, Carrie handles the support functions to shine the light on Chad's beautiful work. Photo 1 was taken when she was designing our new website with Adeline (now 4!) sleeping on her chest.

Her Tall Pine remit includes website design, photography, social media, and customer service. Tall Pine scratches her entrepreneurial itch!

Carrie is also responsible for the company's namesake. The story goes that when Carrie was in kindergarten, for the Thanksgiving play, she was given a Native American name and hoped she'd get a pretty name like all the other girls. Maybe "Water Lily"?! Nope...tallest in the class, Carrie was named "Tall Pine", a nickname she disliked until Chad started calling her it affectionately. When rebranding our company name, it felt like an apt name! No, most of our pieces are not made with pine 😆🤷🏻‍♀️

Speaking of humble beginnings, please take most of the action photos in this post as what NOT to do. Especially the one where she's operating a mitre saw on a cardboard box, at eye level, with no ear or eye protection, and in flip flops 🥴🥴

Carrie's other interests include reading, baking, exercising, Bible study, being a messy painter, and clowning Chad because she's better at staining furniture (but not painting, clearly) 💁🏻‍♀️

Let's do some shop intros before our reopening in a few weeks!

Chad Jordan is co-founder, CEO, and craftsman. He got into woodworking about 10 years ago when he and Carrie bought their first house together. He needed a new desk but couldn't find one he liked (for an affordable price) in any retail store. He was also frustrated to realize most furniture is not solid wood anymore. He'd have to pay a premium for an unideal design that was low quality and not even solid wood!

So he set out to make a simple desk design on his own. He started with a mitre saw sitting on a large cardboard box in the driveway! After that project (and all the lessons learned therein), he made the family a coffee table. And then a console table. Then a kitchen table for a family member.

Sooner or later we started getting comments like, "This is beautiful! You should sell this!"

Carrie's insatiable appetite for entrepreneurship and Chad's passion for working with his hands bore this company. Originally named "Made in Aldie" and later renamed to "Tall Pine" (that's another story), this family-run business was built out of necessity and is sustained by a passion for creating beautiful, solid wood heirloom pieces for families to cherish for generations.

Chad's other interests include hunting, cracking jokes with a straight face, perfecting our lawn, and smoking meat on his new 🦌 😂 🌱🥩

We're so excited to reopen our online store doors in just a few weeks, with Chad in his dream dedicated wood shop space! Thank you for your love and support! 🤍🪚🪑🌳
