Busy weekend in the shop.

Second coat is on and I started building the doors today — first time doing rail-and-stile doors and inset fits on a project this size.

Lots of learning, a few do-overs, and plenty of problem solving along the way, but it’s finally starting to look like what I had in my head. Still more to do, but I’m excited to see it coming together.

Definitely one of those projects that reminds you why you love building things.

One more coat to go and I need to start on the doors!

Didn’t think I’d make it this far, but here we are.

This built-in bookshelf project has pushed me in ways I didn’t expect—tight tolerances, imperfect walls, lots of head-scratching, and more problem-solving than I planned on. But tonight I stepped back, looked at it, and it finally feels solid.

Carcasses are in, things are starting to line up, and for the first time I can actually see the finished piece in my head. Still a lot to do, but I’m really proud of the progress so far and excited to keep pushing it forward.

Sometimes you just have to trust the process and keep going. 🔨🪵

❄️ Shoutout to my Yarbo ❄️

We just had a solid snow dump over the last couple of days, and I’ve gotta say… this thing absolutely delivered.

The driveway stayed clear the entire time — no shoveling, no plowing, no bundling up and going outside at all. It just quietly did its job while I stayed warm and dry inside.

This is one of those moments where you realize how much stress and physical work you didn’t have to deal with. Huge win.

If you’re on the fence about automated snow removal… this storm sold me. 💪❄️

Another 1 AM night in the shop finishing up cutting board stands 🔥

This walnut beauty is my first custom stand request after selling around 50 of my standard ones. The customer needed a taller version for their piece, so I went back into the design, did some late-night math, and modified the original plans.

It’s only about ½” taller, but that small change completely changes the geometry and requires more material – and honestly, I think it looks even better. If it serves the client better, it’s worth every tweak.

Shop vibes tonight powered by my 6 “shop foremen” – Rick, Morty, Summer, Beth, Elon, and Jerry the Bengal cat supervising from above 😆🐾

Also liked this design so much I cut one in cherry to use as a display stand for one of my own AR-style builds – works really well for that, too.

Here’s a little glimpse of what the grind looks like at 1 AM in Whiskey Plank Woodworking. Let’s keep building. Let’s go. 💪🌙🪵

🪵 There’s something special about olive wood…
Every piece has a personality, a direction, a grain that refuses to be ignored.

I filmed a quick behind-the-scenes look at how I turn this wild, beautiful wood into cutting board stands that feel alive.
Just pure craftsmanship — sanding, shaping, smoothing edges on the router table, polishing, and finishing.

This is the part I love the most: when the grain finally wakes up. 😍
Let me know what you think of this batch!

Just wrapped up these five olive wood stands — every one of them’s got its own wild grain and personality. 🌿

I’m sitting by the fire watching the game with a cold drink, just staring at these things like… damn. This is why I love what I do.

They came out absolutely beautiful — each one unique, all cut from the same $150 slab of olive wood.

I’d love to hear what you think — which one’s your favorite? 👇

(And yeah… if one of these beauties needs to end up in your kitchen, shoot me a message. 😉)

I can’t even explain how good these turned out. The grain in this olive wood is absolutely unreal — every single stand looks like it’s alive.

$30 a board foot, worth every cent. Five stands cut from a single slab — each one unique, each one hand-finished to perfection.

This wood… man. Olive wood at $30 a board foot — not for the faint of heart, but worth every penny.

Each line in the grain tells a story; each curve feels alive. I pulled five stands out of this $150 slab and every single one is different.

Right here I’m sanding through 320-grit, prepping for that final hand-rubbed finish. When it’s done, it’s going to glow.

1:23 AM in the shop — just me, Elon, and the smell of fresh-cut olive wood. 🐾

This grain is pure art… waves, curls, and color that look like they’re moving.

Every once in a while, you find a board that reminds you why you fell in love with woodworking in the first place. This one’s going to hold an American-flag cutting board — and it deserves every ounce of the craftsmanship going into it.
