The book match desk

I pulled out all the stops for this build in every way I could think of. Solid walnut legs and drawer boxes to accent the walnut and black epoxy top, and for crazy contrast the very special client(my brother!) requested maple drawers to really pop from the dark walnut. So naturally I went all in and used quilted maple. This is all topped off with some insane drawer fronts with a unique actual walnut that was stuck in the wood! I call this the book match desk because other than the top everything is re-sawn matching pieces! The legs, drawer bottoms and drawer fronts are all book matched.

I wanted to make another statement piece with this one and I think I succeeded! What do you think? If you like this do me a huge favor and leave a comment letting me know what you think!

Blood red

Does this count as the obligatory Halloween themed board? This deep hue is one of my favorite color combos and also one of the hardest to get right when mixing. This lovely little tray is FOR SALE! Shoot me a message!

Natural beauty

This old growth redwood is simply incredible. The figure in this quilted piece with the amazing char from the fire that ended up being the end of this ancient tree really makes for a special story. I added a flood cost to make the figure pop and turned this into a lazy susan so it can be the center piece of the dining room. tabletop .jacob.woods

The ultimate coffee table.

Maple burl with 2 stage pour of white pigment and clear. I wanted to have the color of the pigment and not loose the amazing burl edge so this was the perfect result. I am so pleased with how this table came out and it may be my favorite creation yet.

Thankfully I get to see it every day because it is for my wife the lovely . I can only put off her request for so long after I sold out last coffee table at an art fair a year ago! What do you think of this combination?

So pleased with how this ocean board turned out for my 2nd ever attempt!

I've been a big fan of the ocean technique with epoxy but didn't like the style where the waves actually are in top of the wood and covering up the beautiful figure. This style makes for a more realistic areal view of a coastline and I can't wait to make more! Shoutout to for being kind enough to give me a masterclass in layering and wave technique

Whenever you finish a big project do you ever feel that 1-2 posts about it just isn't enough? Well I do. This wall art piece is one of my favorites. I'd consider myself an artist before a woodworker and these are the types of projects I enjoy the most! Having an art installation in a university is just so awesome to me! A proud moment when other artist peers on a professional levek recognize my artwork as being top level and worthy of public display in a building that showcases the best.
