Against the Grain Woodworking and Design Against the Grain Woodworking and Design specializes in wooden furniture restoration, repair and custom builds in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls, NY region.

We also restore, repair, and customize electric/acoustic wood stringed instruments. A variety of woodworking problems come to the studio. We are dedicated to providing craftsmanship in the finest approved tradition in every aspect of woodworking on one-of a kind pieces. In 2002 Victor Marwin took a tour of the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center which is at home in the former Niagara Falls High Schoo

l in Niagara Falls, NY. He immediately rented a studio space, and Against the Grain Woodworking and Design was established. Already an accomplished woodworker, beginning in 1978 with the former Kittenger Furniture Company, Marwin has continued to develop his craft to the place where he no longer needs outside crafts persons to complete a complex project. Peter Johnson, a SUNY Binghamton graduate with a degree in Archeology, joined the team as an apprentice in 2013.
