Opa has finally completed his Christmas.
Sophia and Aroara , your Great Grandaddy was a dedicated hunter and wanted you to have these.
He was unable to Mount these for you , as GOD called him home. GOD in his way, made sure they were complete and delivered to you. Your Great Granddaddy loves you very much and I know you miss him.
The St. Jude’s toys are the last of this year and from Opa. Put them with your collection.

Love Opa ❤️

I forgot to share these. They are page holders for books. Made them for Christmas, made one for myself even though I would rather get an ass whoopin than read a book.
Check out the detail on these. Each one was customers to the recipient. Read on Suckers. I will be on Audible. 😁

Super Genius !! This is what happens when you were raised by cartoons in the 60’s & 70’s .
Acme Bomb Clock. Black Walnut, Birds Eye Maple , red dyed poplar for the Dyno-Mite , ebonized walnut for the retaining rings.
Naked clock works so you can see the gears doing their thing . Jeweled out with copper coils, brass hardware .
Special thanks to Brayden Flora for his work on the Dyno -Mite JJ Evans would be Proud

Gumby and Pokey would like to show off this piece . Cherry jewelry chest , designed like an armoire. Client says her grandfather built this decades ago. He did a fine job.
Special thanks to Mr. Leo Talley and Sir Brayden Flora for their hard work on this.
Both are apprenticing with Opa , I see promise in them both.

This Marlin has been in my to do pile for decades.
My oldest brother, Robbie , built this in 1968 in shop class. Over the years the original fins got destroyed.
I kept it ,carried it around for 4 decades waiting for the right time to repair it.
I was in Metal warehouse a few months ago and saw some polished diamond metal plate. Inspiration hit a few days later.
Went back. Got a scrap piece , cut it to pattern, refinished the walnut Marlin , replaced the tack that was his eye with a cool marble from my childhood . Gave the Swordfish new life.
Not bad for an eighth graders shop project from 1968.

Falling behind on life. Rosewood Chinese pedestal and Planter box. Circa 1950.
Planter box was originally painted black , someone stripped it since it was made.
I do not believe the pedestal table and planter go together, but they fit well together.
Special thanks to Brayden Flora for his efforts on this project. Job well done Young Man.

I would like to introduce everyone to Rosie ( Husky ) and Capri ( Bear ). They are 2025 Ambassadors for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
They are designed each year by the patients at St. Jude’s. This years picks were designed by a young lady named Capri.
St. Jude’s treats children with cancer , pays for medical treatment , their travel and lodging for the parents so they can be sigh their child. No patient ever receives a bill. They believe no child should have to live with cancer.
Each year I am honored to receive 6 dogs and 6 bears and I distribute them to persons I deem deserving of these precious toys.
They can ask be purchased at Jared’s jewelry store. $16.99 each. All proceeds go to St. Jude’s and Jared’s just started their St. Jude’s drive for 2025.
Special thank you to Candi at Jared’s for her tireless efforts every year snd helping me with this.

The mobile base on my thickness planer has seen better days. Did not roll very well anymore. To be fair , the planer is 36 years old.
I bought some very nice Teflon casters that I use on all of my equipment. The roll very nicely across the shop floor. I built a very simple platform base using 3/4” plywood. Very strong.
Problem was the new base elevated the planer 4” . Now it would not fit where I normally tuck it in at when not in use.
I decided to cut the frame down 5” to resolve the issue. We lifted the 300 lb planer on a shop table . I proceeded to cut the legs , but decided rather than just cutting the whole leg , I would do one side and fold the remaining section over , hammering it over to form a foot/ platform to hive it a better footing and flap ghat I could bolt to the new base.
Once I hammered , shaped and folded it over I thought it would be even better if I welded it on the cut side. Done.
Long story longer , this is not about my planer, but about all the training and knowledge I have acquired over the decades especially in my early years.
If it were not for my shop classes in school , I may not have acquired these skills. Mr. Phipps wood shop and Mr. Owens metal shop at Lindsay Jr High.
( Mr. Owens had a bad ass blue convertible corvette ) . Welding in Mr. Morgan’s class, he was a very good teacher in my eyes. Mr. Hopson , Metal shop , both at Bethel high. Mr. Hopson was a little out there, but he let us run with our imagination.
There was also auto mechanics at Vo -Tech with Mr. Somerset , also a very good instructor.
This being said , I really think young men and women are being denied this opportunity due to the lack of shop classes. Makes me wonder where I would be today if not for shop.
I attached some photos of the planer and the work I did. You can see where I cut , folded and weld. And of course the finished project.
I left out drafting class which is also important when planning.
My drafting teacher would revoke my grade if he could see my plans I draw today. Far from architectural drawings , more cartoonish in nature, but i understsnd it and it eitks for me.

Somerset Bay , not sure how old it is , tall chest and two nightstands . It was an avocado green , now Lanquid Blue ( who comes up with these names ) .
Bronze brass hardware adds a nice contrast , as does the mahogany interior.
Somerset Bay is known for their coastal style furniture inspired by places like Nantucket and other coastal towns.
Special thanks to Brayden Flora for his hard work. Brayden is apprenticing with me currently, learning the craft. Thank you for your participation.

A Dear friend , and sometimes client gave me some items belonging to her deceased father , asked if I could use them .
A draft board and T Square , much like I used and made in high school , and several sets of antlers.
Draft board reminded me kfcwoox shop. We were required to build our own draft board , so we could draw our projects we were to build . Itonic how you had to build something , so you can draft something , before you were allowed to build something .
Her father was an avid hunter , had a cabin in the woods in central Virginia where he, his kids, hrsnd kids, great grandkids all spent a lot of time and created a lifetime of memories ,
Over the past year, I asked questions, requested photos , acquired information. Not sure where I was going. Once I put pencil to paper , thought to the project it all came together .
I was invited to a birthday party for the young lady by behest of the granddaughters ( 14 year old twins who love Opa to death , what’s not to love ) . Timing was right.
I restored , designed , customized a plaque of James Smiths artifacts , added photos , pyrographed some notes.
Melissa ,I know your father was your ride or die and you have been lost without him . I hope you enjoy this memorial to him.

Love Opa.
