Two fabulous Swedish ormolu-mounted and hand-etched glass mirrors, inspired by Gustav Precht's model, dating back to the second half of the 19th century, are available. These remarkable pieces showcase the exquisite "Verre églomisé" glass technique, resulting in a museum-quality finish. Each mirror features a rectangular plate within a beveled foliage-decorated surround, embellished with foliage clasps. The C-scroll arched cresting is centered by an oval plate flanked by foliage finials and surmounted by a fruiting urn.

Originating from Sweden and dating back to the 1800s, each mirror is available for purchase individually at $38,000.

The Precht family, consisting of Burchardt Precht and his sons Christian and Gustav, was renowned for producing high-quality gilt-lead and gilt wood mirrors in 18th-century Sweden. Although Gustav remains less documented, it is worth noting that his father Burchardt, a sculptor and cabinet-maker originally from Bremen, came to Stockholm in 1674 to work at Drottingham Palace. Christian, after apprenticing as a goldsmith in 1721, traveled extensively throughout Europe and returned to Stockholm in 1731, becoming one of Sweden's leading Rococo silversmiths.

The design of these mirrors, originally executed in gilt-lead, has been attributed to both Burchardt and Gustav. Notably, an example with beveled blue glass borders and crest, attributed to Gustav, is illustrated in G. Child's "World Mirrors 1650-1900" (London, 1990, p.297, pl. 768).

Past auctions have featured similar mirrors. A mirror attributable to Charles II by Gustav Precht was sold in Koller International Auctions, achieving a price of approximately $63,000 USD. Christie's has also seen the sale of comparable mirrors, with one example reaching approximately $50,200 USD in a Mayfair auction in 2008, and another pair selling for around $126,620 USD in a London auction in 2008. Another very similar mirror, with blue glass, is documented in Rizzoli's publication "Mirrors, Serge Roche," both on the cover and plate VII.

A pair of extremely rare 19th-century French Louis XVI candelabras by Alfred Beurdeley, originally designed by François Rémond, exemplify artistic mastery. These extraordinary pieces belong to the limited 'Aux Autruches' collection and feature enchanting ostrich motifs. Notably, the original Rémond creation resides in the Palace of Versailles.

These magnificent candelabras showcase intricate hand-chased and hand-chiseled workmanship. With seven candle arms adorned with ormolu foliate motifs, acanthus leaves, flowers, and berries, they exude timeless beauty. Elaborate banded filigree bobeches adorn the ends of each arm. The bases are embellished with crescent moons, symbolizing their Turkish court origin.

Enchanting tassels and ormolu pearls create a captivating cascading effect. The candelabras stand resolutely on splendid round ormolu plinths adorned with draperies, bows, stars, and a rush, capturing the charm of the Louis XVI style. The ostrich motifs possess a coveted patina, while the remaining ormolu elements gleam resplendently. Delicate striations and spiraling vine motifs enhance the central stems.

François Rémond, a renowned bronzier rivaling Thomire, delivered the original ostrich candelabras to the Turkish Cabinet in 1782. Confiscated during the Revolution, they were preserved by the Temporary Arts Commission in 1794. Housed in the Hôtel de l'Infantado and displayed in various locations, they found their current residence in Versailles in 1912. In 1971, these grandeur-filled candelabras were prominently showcased in the Queen's noble salon, embodying historical significance.
