Miles Davis Way Beautification Miles Davis Way Beautification is a block organization devoted to planting and maintaining tree beds to create an environment residents can take pride in.

We are volunteers devoted to improving the quality of life and the health of the trees on our block by planting and maintaining our tree beds. By doing so, we are not just making the block a brighter place to live but also ensuring the long-term health of the trees.

Planting around a street tree will not harm the tree if done properly. But building up soil around a tree trunk prevents the roots and lower part of the trunk from interacting with the atmosphere and encourages "girdling," a root problem that eventually causes the tree to strangle itself.

Since 2016, our volunteers have been beautifying and maintaining the tree beds along West 77th St. between West End Ave.and Riverside Drive, aka Miles Davis Way, bringing joy to passersby and building community.
