I feel like a dear, but inappropriate, friend has left me. Abandoned, really.

Anne's stories made me homesick for New Orleans, a place I'd never even been. I remember coming here for the first time and it being so overwhelmingly familiar because her stories had served as my own eyes. I had already walked on and smelled the damp decay of the broken streets and sidewalks. I had already explored the musty old buildings and breathed in their jaded history. I had felt the tingling of the danger and celebration and love that can only be found here.

I actually feel Anne was one of those beautiful, crazy friends who could talk you into anything. And now she's gone. And I'm still here.
