As we head into the summer months our town always sees a higher volume of emergencies and traffic accidents; we’d like to take a moment to remind drivers to PULL TO THE RIGHT AND STOP FOR SIRENS & LIGHTS.

The 64 sq miles of New Milford is protected by three 100% Volunteer Fire Departments, a tradition that dates back to 1863. Our Responders are leaving work, chores, and families to respond to emergencies; they display flashing blue lights to ask for the courtesy to pass… whether heading to the scene or to the firehouse to drive the apparatus, they are the only firefighters responding to your neighbor’s call for help.

From time to time we need to close roads and create delays; while inconvenient, it protects our Responders and helps us to work quickly and safely. When approaching an emergency scene, please proceed slowly, be patient, be attentive, and help us return home safely.
