When deciding the date you would like to get started on your kitchen or bath project talk to a kitchen professional first to come up with a plan of attack.

Never rip out anything from your old space until you have a confirmed delivery week for the cabinets and you are on the schedule with a tentative start date for the installation. We will discuss the type of appliances you wish to purchase. I will verify sizes with you and get a list with make and model numbers from you. I must have this before I can fonalize the order for the cabinets. Don't buy any appliances if possible until we have a chance to discuss the design. After I have room measurements, I will recommend appliance sizing for the design. Don't put the cart before the horse so to speak.
You can figure about 2 - 3 weeks of design time for revisions and to make sure you have it just right to your liking. If you are the type of person who can quickly make decisions and know just what you want then maybe the design process might only take a week or two, depending on how busy your design person is.
Once you have that part of the project finished you will be given an estimate for the cabinets and the counters remember some cabinet companies have lead times of 6 to 8 or more weeks from the date you pay for your cabinets until the delivery week.
Most companies are approximately 4 to 6 weeks delivery. Remember a new kitchen or bath is a big expense and most people will only do it once or twice in a lifetime. So take your time and leave enough time to work with your kitchen or bath design person so that the dream you've always had of a new kitchen or bath, can become a reality~!
Permits for the job can take 4 - 6 weeks and then depending on when they are approved it cold be another week or two before the remodling can start. Then there are inspections for framing, plumbing and electrical and insulation to be approved before the walls can be closed up and prepped for paint. Then there is flooring and then the cabinets can be installed. Once the footprint of the design has been installed, we can s schedule the template for counters and while they are being fabricated the rest of the cabinets and moldings can be installed.
The counters will be ready for installation in about 7 to 10 working days at the most after template. After they are installed, the appliances can be set and leveled up in their final resting position. After that, the plumber and electrician come back for final hook up and to finish up their work. Then final inspections for C/O and any punch list items that need to be taken care of.
There you have it, your new kitchen~!
So from start to finish including the design lead time and preparing drawings for permits and submitting to the township for approval.
After placing the written cabinet order with the cabinet manufacturer i will be given a written acknowledgement from the manufacturer. After making sure everything on the written order acknowledgement has been interpreted correctly by the order entry department, I will approve the order for production and release it into production for manufacturing.
Once the permits are approved the carpentry work begins. Figure about 6 to 8 weeks from that point.
So the whole job from start to finish including the design process, the cabinet manufacturing, and the jobsite remedial carpentry for the cabinet installation.
It could take as long as 17 - 18 weeks in a perfect world for everything to be completed. The actual installation process after permits are approved and work begins, is about 8 weeks from start to finish
So make sure you plan ahead on when to get started with the design process. This way you can possibly finish the project as close as possible to the completion date you had in mind.
If possible, contact the kitchen design person at least 2 weeks ahead of when you want to get started, in case they are busy and possibly booked out a couple weeks.
