I remember when I was young, sitting in the back seat of the car one night with my family. We had left Montrose to head home, and Dad took a back road we had never driven before. Why? I don’t remember. Maybe there was snow, a road closure, or maybe he was trying to avoid a speeding ticket.

But it was dark, and as we drove by, we passed what I assumed was a woodworking shop. It was fully lit up, with two guys inside working late into the night. I remember thinking, “Man, I bet they’re in there frustrated, working late to meet a deadline… but they don’t know how good they have it.” To me, that looked like a dream — to sit in a shop late at night, building something beautiful with a friend.

Tonight, as I sat in my own shop watching the sun go down, tired and worn out after doing this every night for at least three plus weeks and really most weeks of this summer, I thought about that memory. I thought about how I once dreamed of having exactly this. And God has certainly supplied that dream — and the work that comes with it.

So tonight, I just wanted to take a moment to give thanks. Not only for dreams coming true, the work we’ve been blessed with, and the shop I get to work in every day, but also for those two men working late that one night as I drove by. They unknowingly planted something in me.

I’m also thankful for the team I’ve been blessed to build — a group of people who are just as crazy as I am. I wasn’t alone in the shop tonight. I had a friend by my side. I’ve been blessed to be surrounded by a small but incredibly strong team of individuals to live this crazy life with.

As the sun fades tonight, my prayer is that one kid drives by in their parents’ car and thinks, “Man… that’s cool. Look what they have. Look what they get to do every day.” I hope it sparks something in them. I hope it inspires them to take the next step, start a business, learn to work with their hands, and build something beautiful for the next generation.

Thank You, God, for all You have given me — through the hard times and the good. Thank You for this life, this work, and these people.

A building is simply wood and walls until it’s filled with people, prayer, and the presence of God.

This project is a reminder that every nail, board, and finished detail can be an act of worship when done for God’s glory. We’re grateful to have played a small part in preparing this space for our church family to gather, pray, and grow together.

Today’s prayer dedication for the new building gave us chills.

Some projects just hit a little different.

Kitchen islands like this are one of my favorites because they’re never just “a build” — they become the center of everything. This one was for a young family, and knowing it’ll be where breakfasts are made, lunches are packed, kids do homework, and late-night conversations happen… that’s the part that never gets old.

We don’t just build cabinets or islands — we build the spaces where everyday childhood memories are made, day in and day out.

Grateful to do work that gets to live right in the middle of real life. 🛠️✨
