The first of several pieces for the Bergman House in Newton, Iowa — the state’s only known Spanish Mission Revival home, built in 1909–1910 by Proudfoot & Bird.

Heavy Mission and Arts & Crafts character throughout, with subtle Art Nouveau influence woven into the original details.

Projects like this are why we do custom work.

Some fun with a mock-up. With a narrow, tall drawer, dimensions seem to be less forgiving. I was having a very difficult time getting this one to work out, but thank goodness there are others who also post their work here on the net and I found the solution in separating the slides. Time to move forward!

I was able to finish the install yesterday. The first photo is the finished product, the second image is the rendering provided at the beginning, I moved the rails a bit during the design. The goal being to be inline with the period architecture of the home. Custom knives made to match the homes details and color matched for the area.

There’s a reason I call on Niel hen I need a proper set of knives for the moulder. My material arrived this morning, the knives arrived after 2:00 from UPS and this run of bead board was done before 4:00. I’ve ground my own, I’ve used other shops but these knives are consistent which makes for a quick setup and a profile that matches.
16 pieces of 16’ southern yellow pine to go into a restoration project.
