It’s RAGBRAI today in Iowa! This is (The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) the world’s oldest and largest recreational bicycle touring event.
About 25,000 bicyclist road past the shop on this years route and we’ve had folks from Maryland to California stop in to smell the sawdust. Today’s temp is 75*, two days ago when this started was about *95!

Medicine cabinet complete.

Crafted from a blend of vintage and reclaimed woods—white pine, Norway pine, reclaimed beadboard, and vertical-grain Douglas fir. Finished with custom-tinted garnet shellac and a durable polyurethane topcoat. Hardware by Whitechapel and Horton Brass.

The goal wasn’t to make an antique, but to create a piece that looks like it has always belonged in the home.

Mounted to a mock-up wall so I can start working on the details of the back panel, and keep it all out of harms way. There will be some other projects that need some attention soon, so I’m trying to get to a good point to put this on pause while some others begin.
