When I found this it was literally headed for the dumpster but I hauled it home instead. Randy my hubby said, “pitch it Shelly this one is too far gone.” I didn’t listen, instead I sanded, and sanded, and sanded ,and questioned my sanity for doing this. I put wood glue and wood fill in so many places and then I primed her. This morning as I put on the second coat of white I saw it and said “oh there you are”! I have been grinning all morning lke a girl with a teenage crush, as I touched it up and put on a antiquing glaze. I watched it transform before my eyes. I still need hardware and it has a whole top still to be finished but I found what I knew to be true. He beauty within. Here she is staged in my dining room. I always name my pieces and I think this one is Georgia. ❤️ The girl with beauty waiting to be seen.

I won’t lie this piece has been sitting in my shop/garage for over three years because it intimidated me. 1800’s hand carved chestnut piece that was in a fire and covered in ashes and so much soot. Moldings were missing it was broken it was a total mess! However, I decided this summer if I didn’t at least try to do something that fear would win. So im trying new things and watching videos on how to recreate moldings. Slowly she is coming along and her beauty shines through. I’m sure it will be far from perfect but it will be better than before, not letting anxiety beat me. Watch as she transforms. ❤️😘

The before and after on this set is 🤯. It’s a 1920’s Waterfall set. There was no bringing this back to the original. It had set out in the weather on a porch for years. Lots of restoration! However, I love the black and gold Gatsby Era feeling of it. Very on trend right now. It really shows off the carvings on the piece that were lost in the old brown pieces. 4 Drawer Dresser, Full Headboard, Footboard, Rails and Slats included. This entire set is $300. You cant even find a headboard today for that price. It’s a bargain. Someone take it home it needs some love ❤️.

More flying out of the shop this week. A pre civil war church bench that someone had carved their name into the back of it! I can just imagine a kid doing this sitting in church in the 1800’s. It had square nails and the hand made dove joints make woodworkers like me so appreciate the craftsmanship. That I got to restore something that old that is a family heirloom😍priceless. The owners raved about it!

I very rarely find a good antique vanity dressing table. Even more rare to find them with this kind of gorgous vintage detail. The hardware on this one.🤩😳🤯. Hardware like this isn’t even made anymore folks. Not since the 1920’s. It cost a small fortune to even find it or replace it. I saw past the grit and dirt and saw the vanity’s hidden beauty. I couldn’t pay for it fast enough and put it in our truck without grinning like a new school girl. ☺️
When I got it home I fully debated if I should paint it or stain it or do a little of both? I finally decided to not paint over the amazing detail on the drawers. I just couldn’t do it. They were amazing but the legs and top could be painted to showcase that detail. The entire set will be finished this afternoon. Message me if you want it before it goes on marketplace this afternoon. Truly it won’t last long. I’m posting the before and after pictures.
