Went to see these guys last night in Nashville. If they come to your town, go see em. An exceptional bunch . Blake is a very original and musical guitarist, Pino is a world renowned virtuoso Bassist and guitarist. Chris Dave drummer/ percussionist was amazing and at times downright humorous in his approach. Sam Gendell reed player just layed over and under the themes and at times downright burned it up. All these guys heavily utilize effects to augment their instrumental performance. A little hard to put their music into a category. Pretty far left of center. Just good music. Best way I can describe might be to say - Miles would have liked them a whole lot. Go see em if you get a chance.

Cleveland people: I’ll be back home Sunday, August 10th to play the Ohio Singer Songwriter Showcase at The Treelawn in Cleveland’s Waterloo Arts & Entertainment District. (Ticket link below)
This is a fundraiser for my friend Cindy Barber’s nonprofit: Cleveland Rocks: Past, Present, Future.

Ringing out a JOAT 30RT+

My approach thus far to Guitar Amp design has been to create a very touch sensitive and pedal friendly sound platform. One Volume control, a 5 position “ATTITUDE” switch dialing up different gain and EQ options, a 3 position BITE switch, a 6 position LOW CUT rotary switch, and a 6 position HI CUT rotary switch.

The idea is to maintain a certain feel and feedback loop between the fingerboard and the baffle board. Decibel level is addressed via two additional switchable options: POWER LIMIT - dropping from FULL to roughly HALF power and HEADROOM SELECT - enabling a lower squash threshold.

Then – there is a uniquely rich plate like REVERB system and sublime TREMOLO. That’s the JOAT RT+ Amplifier. They are available in 20W (EL84 or 6V6), 30W (EL84 and 6V6), and 45W (EL34 or 6L6) versions. In this 30RT+ video I aimed at repeating the same riffs while stepping the amp through a few different settings.

I am playing through our Model A 2x12” cab loaded with Eminence Allesandro GSC64 speakers and the Strat is a parts caster with Fralin pickups with no effects. I do kick in a bit of Blackstone Appliances Overdrive at the very end of the reel.
