Windy Holler Music In-house writing, recording, pitching, production services. It became a fulltime business in 2012 when Hal retired from teaching and they moved to Music Row.

Hal and Rachel Newman moved to Nashville in 1980 from Mobile with a bag of gospel songs which were soon being recorded by artists as varied as Shirley Caesar and Bobby Jones and New Life and the Happy Goodman Family. Their Contemporary Christian hit, "Spreadin' Like Wildfire" was the title cut of the Archers' Grammy nominated album in 1981. In the 90's they enjoyed mainstream cuts by George Strait

in his movie, "Pure Country" ("Baby Your Baby") and on Shania Twain's first album ("Got a Hold on Me"). Hal is a 14-year veteran of MTSU's Recording Industry program where he was instrumental in bringing partnerships with NSAI and ASCAP to the Murfreesboro campus and was the co-founder of the Commercial Songwriting Concentration. He is also leader of "Hal Newman and the Mystics of Time" the brassy party band he founded in Nashville in 1985. The Newmans have owned and operated Windy Holler Music since 1981 when it was formed as a holding company for their own songs.
