It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to work on a piece but when I do, I always want it to be worth while! No better time spent than giving this antique highboy the much needed makeover it deserved. Dating back to the early 1920-1930s with its gorgeous detailing and solid mahogany construction, this piece has seen a lifetime and still stands to tell it.

It has been painted in General Finishes Driftwood, antique glazed, and tastefully distressed to update this beauty but still keep it charming, classy, and full of character. Poly protected to ensure another lifetime. This high boy along with its matching low boy dresser, which will be available shortly, will look lovely in any home.

Measures approximately 52” x 38.5” x 18.25”.

I am obsessed (like I’m sure most of you all are too) with apothecary cabinets. I love everything about them except for the fact that I only fill them with countless pens/pencils, craft supplies, and DVDs only to be completely forgotten about. I wanted to create something with this look but still be very functionally. I came across this 1950s Dixie Highboy and immediately knew I found the piece!

Five drawer dresser with a faux apothecary design; this is perfect for storing large items without compromising this popular style. Manufactured by Dixie, solid wood construction, dovetail drawers, and a large divided middle drawer is all you need with in a piece that will last a lifetime. Drawer fronts added with catalog labels and cup pulls give this piece a perfectly imperfect, faux antique vibe. Every now and then there are some pieces that I can’t let go. Ones that I’ve put my blood, sweat, and tears into (seriously all 3 of those!) that found a special place in my heart and home. But as my husband continues to point out, I can’t keep everything. I hate to admit it, but he’s right (don’t tell him I said that). The less space I have to work, the less space I have to create. So just as my 7 year old’s favorite princess likes to say, it’s time I “let it go, let it go, can’t hold it back anymore!” So here’s my first purge of my personal collection... a part of me is dying inside 😆

I ❤️ mirrored furniture so I redesigned this piece from a vintage Thomasville dresser. Painted in General Finishes Snow White, mirrors added to the drawer fronts, and accessorized with glass k***s, this beauty, which was once an ugly duckling, sits proudly with its well deserved, glam makeover! Perfect in a bedroom or as a media cabinet with its ample storage space. This piece will definitely look stunning in any room!

Tried General Finishes Winter White Glaze for the first time and I love it! The white glaze combined with GF Driftwood gave this vintage Ethan Allen buffet the perfect farmhouse look.

My last one for the year...

Remember my Ethan Allen nightstands? Well here is the matching dresser but I decided to go in a different direction with this one. I love color so I went with my gut and opted against the plain, light gray for a more dramatic makeover.

Body was painted in Annie Sloan Aubusson then dark glazed to give it some dimension. Original hardware refreshed in antique copper to compliment the paint color. Top sanded down and restained in a mix of Java and Walnut to really tie it altogether. What do you think? Which do you prefer, the dresser makeover or nightstands done in Seagull Gray?

Dresser measures approximately 60”L x 19.25”W x 34.25”H. Features include solid wood construction, dovetail drawers, and divided drawers (both bottom drawers and top right drawer).

Chairs will be the death of me! Times like this, I wish I sprayed instead of hand applying every inch of the process. However I have to admit, oh how I love a good chair transformation. These beautiful French Provincial dining chairs received a much needed upgrade. Client chose the perfect paint color and fabric to compliment one another. I knew she had good taste because she already owns one of my pieces. 😊

Vintage Ethan Allen set of nightstands painted in General Finishes Seagull Gray and tops refinished in Java for an updated modern Farmhouse style. Oil rubbed bronze hardware added to compliment the look. Solid wood, quality construction with dovetail drawers. $385/pair.

I love, love, love Annie Sloan Duck Egg. When I started painting, my first can of paint was this color. I painted everything in my house Duck Egg. It was really my obsession with this warm and serene shade that I started selling my pieces. My son came home from school one day and asked why everything in our house was blue. I looked around and realized that he was right; everything from our desk to our closet doors was Duck Egg. In an attempt to add a little balance, I decided to sell some of my pieces but couldn't stop "redesigning" old furniture. That's when I realized that I found something I really enjoyed doing. 💕

Measures 44" x 20" x 36". Mirror adds 32" in height. Three drawer dresser on original casters, solid wood construction, and dovetail drawers. Hand painted, distressed, and dark glazed to give it its appropriate antique appearance. Top sanded and restained in Java and turned legs refreshed to match top. Beautiful antique piece!
