Dan & Sherri's at Z Pond Our new retirement home on beautiful Chute Pond in Mountain, WI We bought our lot here in 1994 and had a mobile home here until 2014.

We built our new home in 2015 and retired here from the Milwaukee area. Life is good here at Z Pond.

There's still enough ice by us to walk out onto the lake. I pulled the snowmobile/ATV ramp out yesterday- which means we're officially ready for the ice to melt so we can get the piers and boatlift in!

I checked the ice conditions yesterday and in the areas I checked I found 6-8" of solid ice, with another 2" of frozen snow/slush on top of that. The Christmas rain melted most of the snow, and then the cold weather froze that layer into the top 2". Very slippery out there- but solid footing wherever there's no snow cover.

We have 3 1/2 to 4" of nice, solid ice out in front of our place. The cold weather is making more every hour!
