Before and after of a vintage chest refinished for the Army retirement few years ago.

Vintage cedar chest updated from a little girls room bedroom chest to a masculine military chest. This chest belonged to the wife when she was a child and I was able to repurpose and have it presented for the husbands retirement.

Have you tried paint washing? It will lighten up your furniture while still showing beautiful wood.

1. Sand your piece to raw wood.
2. Stop at 220 grit so you are not closing the pores.
3. I normally do 1paint : 3water ratio.
4. Apply 1-3 layers depending on the look you are going for.
5. Always brush along the wood grain.
6. Let it dry completely and apply water based top coat.
