We sold 8 of the 72 chairs!! The client picked out black leather for the seat, beautiful choice! We delivered the chairs to the client and actually spent many hours sitting in them dining and just sitting around chewing the fat. It was unanimous, the chairs are VERY COMFORTABLE!!! Of course that means there are 64 chairs available for purchase!! The chairs are constructed from Walnut. They are laminate construction which means that there are several thin layers of Walnut glued up and shaped for each piece of the chair including...legs, backrest, seat frame etc. Lamination makes the chair extremely durable, guaranteed not to come apart!! This chair is the strongest one Al has made. The design is simple and clean and will go with any decor.

The dimensions of the chair are 32"H x 20"W x 20"D. If you are interested in purchasing beautifully handcrafted chairs, they are priced at $450/each. Also please feel free to share this post with anyone you think might be interested.

Please feel free to check out our website for more chair designs, along with tables and barstools.

On past posts there have been photos documenting progress made on the 72 Walnut dining chairs. It has been quite a process, but we are closer to a finished product!

Well what can I say other than I have dropped the ball when it comes to posting on Facebook. I got to thinking I had better get back to timely posts or Al is going to fire me from Boswell Custom Furniture....but then I thought, wait I don't get paid!! So with that said, I will get back to "volunteering" on a more regular basis. Thank you to everyone who has liked the page and has followed what Al has been creating. Don't give up on us...stay tuned for more updates and photos.

After sanding the 216 backrest pieces, they are ready to be glued up in groups of 3. This method for the backrest is being used as we were able to utilize thin, shorter pieces of lumber, lumber that otherwise would have probably gone to the burn pile, and it would be a shame to waste such beautiful Walnut! It took some time to cull through the pieces, but it was well worth it. Also laminated pieces are stronger then a single piece, so it is our hope that these chairs will stand the test of time in a restaurant setting.

After all the cuts were made on the big bandsaw, the 216 pieces then had to be run through the sander on a platform to create a taper. It took at least 12 passes/per piece through the sander. It was slow going but the results were great!

When you have mechanical problems with your car, (most of us can relate) you have to make adjustments to your life and figure out other ways to get from point A to point B, whether it be borrowing a vehicle, riding a bike, or walking...well we at BCF are having to make some adjustments, and it has resulted in WALKING from Pt A to B! Several weeks ago we had a piece of equipment with mechanical problems. A motor failed on our Shaper, a piece of equipment that was going to make our life much easier in processing the 288 chair legs and 72 back rest...we were informed the motor had to be rewound, so we gave the go ahead...well that did not fix the problem. Now we need to purchase another part, get the electrician to rewire for the new part, put the motor in and do whatever else is needed...(unfortunately for us he is busy) so that won't be until next week. So while the Shaper has been down for a month, we were going to work on other chair pieces with other equipment, well 2 chop saws later (old one died, new one lasted a month) and a piece we can't get for our table saw, we are limping along. Al has made adjustments and what would have taken 5 hours to complete a piece of the chair, it took 5 days! We hope after next week we will be up and RUNNING at full speed and have more timely posts. Thank you for your patience to those waiting for projects!
