Level Up Studio

Level Up Studio Handcrafted custom tables, specializing in wood and steel I learned how to work with my hands early on by watching 2 generations of outcomes-focused craftsmen.

Put simply, I can do it because my dad did it. And he can do it because he watched my grandfather do it. And my great grandfather? He was known for building handmade extension ladders from Basswood. I can still smell the sawdust while I envision my grandfather making the most perfect cuts with a handsaw I had ever seen. Being at eye level to the board sparked my own passion. Today, I combine my ye

ars of professional client-focused experience with my fire-in-the-gut passion for detail and quality in woodworking & metal fabrication to provide you with a table from hand-selected raw materials that match you and your desired outcome.

One of the best parts of fully custom work - you get exactly what you wanted. For this client, it means a pub-height family game table complete with 2 shelves for the games, integrated footrest on lower shelf, and Ash with interesting design elements.

Another commissioned project delivered! Custom fabricated frames finished in “Viking Grey” powder coat. 2” thick curly maple dining table with matching bench. Then a complementary console table where I book matched (think “mirror image”) the maple on the top. Client made a lot of great decisions on this project.

Custom designed & fabricated/handmade Ash and Walnut table.

This 4-seater is a standard 31" tall and 43 1/2" in diameter. Perfect for poker night, a homework touchdown spot, or if homework is already a nightly gamble, maybe it can do both?

The Ash & Walnut top is 1 3/4" thick and 100% solid wood with thin strips of solid Ash as a circumferential band. The base is 2" square steel and, being fully-welded, is a unitized piece that results in rock-solid stability (vs. a pair of legs that allow movement). Steel base powder coated in flat black. Top is finished in 6 coats of clear water-based poly then wet sanded and polished to a matte/semi sheen. This finish is unique in that it does not change the wood tone of nature's good work - it only highlights the details.

Every bit of this table had detailed focus while being crafted. You can see how here: https://youtu.be/MPtgAidU-w8

Offered at $1,250

In this video, I make custom veneer banding that will cover all end and edge grain on this round table, giving it a finished look. Also shows how easy a planer can chew up thin stock. I learned the hard way to add 10-15% for scrap on most things - and this is a great example of why.

This steel frame was designed with comfortable seating for >= 8 in mind, so the legs favor the outside corners, giving lots of room for 3-4 chairs along each side and 1-2 on each end. Finish on frame is bronze powder coating and this time I used tough plastic inserts for the feet so it wouldn't do that nails-on-chalkboard thing if moved on concrete.

Thanks to my friend Wayne at Freeman's Artisan Works, I was able to personalize this one for a special Grandmother (aren't they all?). All the grands will know exactly where they should NOT sit. 😀

3” legs with 2” rails make this big table frame ready for blasting & powder coating. Pre-made attachment tabs for this project saved a lot of time and worked great. Can’t wait to see it in its bronze finish. Teak top coming up next.

To those who voted on what I call the “Crowdsourced Table”, it’ll be awhile before it’s built. I’m now focused on a table for the mama of the best home builder around- Greg Dimmer. Greg has more connections locally than most, so it’s a tremendous honor to have his trust in the design & build of this project. Any guesses on what he asked for, based on just this photo of the steel base parts?
