Thursday morning, Mount Carmel CEO visited Lacey's Custom Cuts in Albion for a discussion with owner Lacey Messerole about her business and some of the things business owners encounter which might not be obvious unless you have owned and operated a business. Lacey was also joined by her daughter, Callie Messerole, who is a alumna of the CEO program and still operates her CEO business, Effie Faye & Co. This morning, Mount Carmel CEO welcomed a virtual guest speaker, Arvind Garg, who spoke to us from his home in Dubai, UAE, for a discussion on financial decision making and money management. Arvind spent his career as an economist for Shell Oil Company, and since retiring, has taught graduate level courses at University of Oklahoma. Arvind also wrote a book, at the request of his own kids, called Family as a Business, in which he shares his insights and advice on how to manage finances and prepare for a comfortable retirement. A big thank you to Arvind for taking time to meet with our CEO group this morning!

Mount Carmel CEO capped off another busy week with a tour of the First National Bank of Allendale's Mount Carmel Branch with Senior VP Dave Guinnip. Dave spoke with the group about the history of the company, about interest rates and credit, and a host of other topics related to the banking industry. Dave then turned the tour over to Kim Reilly, who took the class on a tour of the various departments of the bank branch. A big thanks to Dave and Kim for taking time to give us a tour this morning, and a huge thank you to First National Bank of Allendale for being a great partner to Mount Carmel CEO. We appreciate all you do to help make our program possible!

Mount Carmel CEO was joined by Edward Jones Financial Advisor Nathan Brines this morning for a conversation about investing and the various types of investment vehicles most people use to save for retirement. Nathan discussed the benefits of getting started early, compounding interest, tax advantaged accounts and how they are treated, and a number of other related topics. It was a great conversation for our students to have now that they have earned some money with their businesses, and Nathan's insights will be beneficial to them all in the future as they enter the workforce and potentially start their own businesses in the future. A big thank you to Nathan for his visit this morning!
