Today I was reminded of just how wonderful our Daffodils employees are & some of the great lessons we learned together. One of which is how to keep your integrity when the company you are subbing for doesn't value your worth.
The last job we did for this company was one in which they knew, but didn't tell us what we were walking into. The family had a very bad case of the flu. We wanted to postpone the job, the company said the family would isolate upstairs away from the work. What was supposed to be a smoke cleanup from a small fire turned into cleaning up these people's downstairs from just their life choices. Everything from human byproducts to worms crawling in the tree beside the door where we had to enter. My crew knew I was livid. We all wanted to walk away, but for the little girl who had stood on the stairwell when we arrived, I would have not done the job. I pray for that little girl. I hope she has been able to get out of that situation. As for the company, that was the last job we ever did for them. And God has blessed us tremendously for it.
There are some things that $$ cannot buy. Respect is one. My crew & I respect each other to the fullest for having stood up to not being bullied in that way ever again. They saw that being a person who does cleaning work does not mean you are of lesser value or your job is of lesser value than any other person. What Daffodils did was a very necessary job that was there to help people in time of dire need. We loved helping the people. It was the greed of the companies that made it awful.
Today our Daffodils crew are business owners, childcare/development leaders, receptionist, students, mother, fireman, secretary, school grandparent volunteer, movie soundman, retiree, operators, grandparents, salespersons, farmer, Sunday School teachers. They are working in everything from the medical field to the nuclear field.
The take away from Daffodils has been amazing. Lessons learned. Values instilled and/or solidified . Lifetime friendships made with each other & some clients. Each one has gone on and become more successful in life, proving that integrity wins over the almighty love of money.
So today I want to give a huge SHOUT - OUT to each one of them! Thank y'all for stepping up big time that day & helping me see through the anger. Thank y'all for sticking with me in solidarity to never working for such a company again. Thank y'all that we are still close after 4 years of being closed. Thank y'all for being YOU! Love you MUCH my friends!! ...and Kaitlin, thank you for the reminder today! Wishing God speed & blessing to each of you❣️
