Our dozers have spent a lot of time on the firelines this week.

Large wildfire (100+ acres) updates from across the state:
Baldwin County (Gulf Shores) - Contained at 117 acres
Etowah County - Contained at 281 acres
Marengo County - Contained at 450 acres
Montgomery County - Contained at 464 acres
Walker County - Controlled at 332 acres

AFC personnel will continue to monitor the areas.
Our top priority is always protecting Alabama's forests and the people who depend on them.

It’s getting awful dry out there so just a caution to anyone burning, fires are getting pretty sporty. Certainly south of Montgomery. We’re getting very selective with where we burn and trying to stay north of 85. All those red dots on that permit map are wildfires that the forestry commission is having to deal with. Be careful out there and especially pay attention for multiple days after your fires. That’s often when a problem occurs.

I don't know who thought this was a good idea! HB 414. Transporting dead hogs is fine but there should be no transport of live hogs since translocation is how so many populations have gotten started up in remote places. Contact your representatives!!
