Hey all, Happy New Year! Showing one of the cleanest Fender black face amps I've owned/worked on, a 1966 Fender Twin Reverb, Fender Musical Instruments vintage, sounding great, looking great, original 1965 Oxford speakers. Say yeah!!

Recent projects have included a mid 60's copper top Vox AC30 with original stock Fender reverb (Fender transformer with 60's date and corresponding drive and recovery pre amp tube sockets riveted in place), a prehistoric mid 1930's Rickenbacker 112 combo amplifier in stock steel cabinet with a great lesson provided showing the inspiration for the less costly and more practical Leo Fender designs. Hope to post more pics soon.

The Blues Junior amplifier is an impressive sonic tool with an almost cult like following. 15 watts, a 12 inch speaker, Fat switch (slight gain boost), famous wet reverb, and all tube circuitry add up to a fine design that's hard to beat. One concern I've noticed is a factory, too hot current draw setting which is remedied by introducing a slight resistance upgrade. The late, great BillM devised a trim pot add on that allows the educated user to dial in the preferred current to exacting standards, around 11.5 Negative volts as compared to the stock voltage of approximately -10.5 DC volts. What a difference a negative volt makes: cooler power tube environment, lower incidence of EL84s falling out of the sockets from too much heat, extended power tube life, extension of clean volume range, and more well defined chords for those that want 'em. The work page for the upgrade can be found online but I favor the one resistor upgrade for quick, uncomplicated results depending on the rating of your preferred matched and graded power tubes. Always request middle numbers for power tubes that are closest to their original design specification. Happy noodling!

Hey tube amp fans, great to see the interest in this largely unattended page. I'll try to drop more photos and more stories as time permits.

Cool mid-50's Fender Tweed Tremolux circuit. This amp was a real joy to find in the early 90's as a departure from the similar, but lower powered, Tweed Deluxe amplifier.
The Tremolux used a 5U4 G series rectifier tube which presented a higher wattage, cleaner sounding dual 6V6 amp circuit. An additional bonus feature was the Tremolo effect which was also being employed in the Tweed Vibrolux Amp of the same era.
The larger cabinet of the Tremolux, the higher wattage capacity P12Q speaker, upgraded 5U4GT rectifier tube, and the tremolo effect all made this amplifier a distinctive upgrade from the 50's Deluxe, Champ, Princeton, and Vibrolux tweed amplifiers.
