Sometimes you have to get creative when clamping things inside a guitar. I have some really long clamps made for this type of repair but they can be a hassle and take up space. I fashioned up a couple of “handles” for some really strong neodymium magnets and these will be perfect to hold these cleats in place while they dry.

I have been slowly making progress on this 100 year old guitar over the last few weeks. Being over 100 years old, it’s suffered from temperature fluctuations and has several cracks in the top. The back plates have separated and a large piece of binding has come off. A few fret marker inlays have also popped out. I’ll be steam bending a new piece of wood binding today and I’m waiting on some mother of pearl material to come in to cutout the inlays. Still lots of work to do but it’s coming along nicely
