Dark walnut Repurposed Sewing Box Antique

I added the ' repurposed' part because this can be used for many other things besides sewing accessories. I envision this a little storage bin for books in a little reading nook. It could also be used for a small bathroom or toy bin as both sides open for storage.

I kept the original hardware as is for a more primitive appeal.

People come to me all the time with very different ideas tailored to their needs in regard to furniture. I usually accept ( sometimes against my better judgement) However, they usually pan out and for that I am grateful! So what is going on here?

Well, this was a dark retro style coffee table. My client wanted space for books so I took out the corner pieces to open them up a bit. Not easy, but definitely doable. The whole piece was sanded down ( yup, even those books and crannies) and restained a honey pine for a lighter and more modern style.

I'd say mission accomplished on this. Is it perfect? Nope! But does it have character and a style all its own? It sure does!

Another happy person who is pleased with my work. What more could I ask for?

A masterpiece in the making!

People ask me to do all kinds of different things and so I say " I'll try it!" ( sometimes against my better judgement) However, most of these unpredictable ideas pan out most of the time. And this one is one of them.

A 70's retro style coffee table- refashioned into a modern-style coffee table. So what did I do you ask?

The corners of the coffee table were cut off to open the lower spaces up for books, etc. The whole piece was stripped ( yup even those books and crannies) So this piece went from dark to warm and inviting. Commissioned by a client, this was not an easy rehab- but I did it. Another piece of furniture in the books!
