(5/29/1932-9/9/11), was established in 1960 in North Mobile County at 803 St. Stephens Road in Prichard, Alabama. The business opened its 2nd location in the heart of Mobile located in Bel Air Mall in 1973, where it maintained a steady influx of new customers that piled into the new indoor air conditioned mall as the first minority business in an Alabama mall. A year later, the business moved to t
he front entrance of Bel Air Mall at 3272 where it remained for nearly 51 years through many depressions and recessions. The newest location/home of Ramos Shoe Service became a stand-out in the community in regards to the best in quality shoe repair, orthopedic corrections and leather repair in the southern region. The famous “While you wait or shop” motto stuck and still remains the business’ motto. An upgrade in 2011 moved the business to the Dollar Tree Complex on the east side of the rebranded Colonial Bel Air Mall under the new ownership of the youngest son of the Ramos Clan, Carlos, who managed and worked at his fathers side for over 28 years. Ask anyone, there’s never been a day that you weren’t greeted by a Ramos.
