Finished up some work on a roadside clean up project I did for Eminence Township the last few days. It was some fun work, got to meet some nice people and only had a few people decide to ignore the road closed signs or tell me that they were just plain going through where I was working. And surprisingly enough only had one incident with random metal clogging up my mulcher. I appreciate the folks in Eminence Township with trusting me to do their clean up work.

Worked on a property in Creve Coure today, opened up the road frontage and made a path so potential buyers could easily look at the property. Even had a friend Bronson stop by and play in the TL11R3 learning the ropes of the drum mulcher. It was a good day to work on a property making it better, if only I could have found some mushrooms while he was operating my skid steer.

Started working on a timber tract today that had been logged a while ago. The area got over crowded with Buckeye, sugar maples, and invasives. I am mulching the majority of the undesirable trees only leaving the ones that are too big to Mulch. This is allowing a lot of sunlight to get to the ground and will hopefully allow native browse and forbes to grow. We will keep a close eye on it to make sure invasives dont start growing, and treat them as needed.

There are a lot of great opportunities and benefits to enrolling some of your tillable ground into CRP programs. Either a buffer strip program (CP33 or CP43) or a pollinators program. There are also pasture programs, general grasslands and grazing programs and fencing too. You can really make your property work well for you and get assistance in doing it. It just takes a little leg work and paper work to get it going.

April 17 is the last day to submit an offer through the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). CRP offers are submitted through a competitive bid process, and this year only 1.9 million acres are available for all CRP enrollments. Approved CRP participants receive annual rental payments in exchange for establishing resource-conserving vegetative cover. https://www.fsa.usda.gov/resources/conservation/conservation-reserve-program

Went to a friend's property today and helped clean up an area that had been overgrown with Locust trees and invasive brush. This area will make a nice addition to their pasture for the cows to enjoy for many years.

I have been working on a property off and on for a couple weeks now as my schedule allows it. Cleaning up large trees that reached the end of their life and have fallen over. This is the 3rd area of this property I have cleaned up and have some more to go still. Cutting up logs that are still good for firewood and burning all the rest that isnt. This is gonna allow a lot of sunlight to reach the ground and natural vegetation to start growing for all the critters to enjoy.

With winter winding down, now is the perfect time to start thinking about getting work done on the gravel driveways. Whether it is hauling new gravel in to build them up or using the power rake to re work them. Get ahead of the spring rains and get your driveway done, so you dont have potholes with water or standing water in your driveways.
