Three more myths about Claro Walnut 🌳

Just because a walnut tree grows in California doesn’t mean it’s Claro—and Claro, English and Bastogne/Paradox Walnut aren’t interchangeable names.

Claro Walnut is its own native species: Juglans hindsii.

Bastogne, commonly called Paradox Walnut, is a hybrid between Northern California black walnut and English Walnut.

The commercial walnuts grown in California come from English Walnut varieties, although those trees have historically been grafted onto Claro or Paradox rootstock.

Walnut identification can get complicated quickly, especially once hybrids and grafted orchard trees enter the picture.

A Walnut Board For My Hare Carvings! 🐇🐰

I am turning the board into a calm grass field for the Hares to run in. Looking forward to share a short video of the creation with you here in a short while!

Pretty much all my sculptures from this summer stems from the same gigantic birch burl which is pretty cool to think about.

a Gigantic Black Walnut Crotch Wood Board! 🪵🌲

I bought this from my friends over at Cali Hardwoods & Supplies recently and it might be the material for my next large carving.

The idea i have is a circular shape held up by cliff like rocks that will be carved after i do a trickly glueup to get the proper width of the base which in this case will be the cliff structure
