We feel our store can support our Berkshire community on multiple levels - investing in local, domestic, and international artisans and craftsmen, supporting a living wage for our members who manage the olive tree cooperative e-commerce stores (that includes the Musk Ox & ME) as well as supporting the vital work of building out local Berkshire worker co-ops, co-op housing, and community owned real

estate that better supports vulnerable members of our Berkshire Community by donating 20% of revenue back into programming. The Musk Ox and ME will have open hours at its store in Middlefield, MA (a hill town next door to Hinsdale, MA!) as well as pop up placements at a few partner stores in downtown Pittsfield, MA including our community owned building set to house solidarity projects and cooperatives. That will start after we have the vaccine for COVID! Meanwhile we are shipping or delivering items!

Reposting Little Amelia Earhart hand created by KAHRI!

Growing up on a farm outside of Tripoli in northeast Iowa, where fashion is of little concern, KahriAnne Kerr broke the mold. KahriAnne taught herself how to sew and design, started her own clothing business at age 19, and moved to NYC at 20 years old to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology. The KAHRI collection has evolved over the years and now includes a range of edgy yet feminine artsy accessories, cosmetic bags, handbags, clothing, home décor, fashion art, and fashion icon dolls.

This rare decorative offering has been individually handcrafted by skilled artisans from the Thar Desert. Made from 100% recycled parts and scrap metal, this iron decorative is highly durable. Some of the iron comes from factories, junkyards and various other industries that discard their iron packaging material. The scrap iron is recovered and processed into a fresh raw material. It is first flattened, then cut by hand into various shapes. Using traditional techniques of bending, hammering and welding, the artisans create one-of-a-kind art decor pieces that are collectibles in their own right. The recycling process has many benefits and plays an important role in supporting artisans and the environment alike. As founders, Jules and Jacquie are a mother and daughter team and have worked together for 25 years in the gift industry. After becoming disillusioned with the mass produced products prevalent in the marketplace, we started to seek products that were more unique and have actual heart and soul.

Kilim Slippers: Style... Our Moroccan Kilim Slippers are produced in the pointed Arab style that took Parisian fashion houses by storm in the 17th century. The round toe on your former pair of house slippers? A lingering influence of Berber-style slippers from around the same time. ...and Substance Kilim, a Turkish flat-woven style of textile, was first popularized by rugmakers across the Mediterranean and Middle East centuries ago. Moroccan textile Kilim rugs are among the most vivid in all the world. The wool is dyed with natural dyes, resulting in extremely varied designs and colors as they are made from whatever is available at the time of crafting. Our slippers are made of these vintage rugs, so each pair has a deep sense of history. The insoles are made with strong but soft goat leather to provide the perfect balance between comfort and durability. Like snowflakes or fingerprints, no two pairs of our Kilim House Slippers are alike. Each pair will be varied in color and pattern.
