What do we do in the monument industry during the slower winter months? It’s a perfect time for catching up on all the projects we don’t have time for in the hectic rush of spring, summer and fall. My latest preoccupation has been investing in a new CAD system and learning to use it. I’m currently attending a kickass training on Monumental Designer and our trainer Brendon has proven that even an OG like me can learn new tricks!

I’ve posted about this company before but I thought this was really cool. What a unique piece of cremation jewelry!

This is something we’re asked fairly often - do you use paint on monuments? The truth is, if you’re using a high quality granite you shouldn’t have to.

Blue Gray™ granite naturally deepens in shade the further it’s carved, creating rich, bold lettering that stands out beautifully, no paint needed.

Earlier this year, we proudly donated our beloved Norman Rockwell paintings to the Shelburne Museum. Once displayed in our Graniteville, VT office, they’re now part of a public collection where more people can enjoy them.
Rock of Ages commissioned Norman Rockwell to paint “The Craftsman” in 1963, right inside our manufacturing plant here in Graniteville.
Have you had a chance to see it at the museum yet?

(Definition for those who don’t know the lingo: combo day of setting/installing and lettering in the field)… Out with the Boss today, enjoying the beautiful weather. Reminds me of the old days when we used to do this on nights and weekends. Blessed to have such an amazing partner in Ron Hunt ❤️

In our “You don’t see this everyday” files is this call received from St. Peter’s Cemetery to move a stone that was tipping over (needs a new foundation). When Ron got there he found this mama duck squawking at him and chasing him away from the area. And then he saw the reason why! She decided to lay her eggs under the hosta in front of the memorial. As it is a federal offense to touch her nest or eggs, Ron quietly backed away and called the DEC and cemetery officials to report it. Quack thinking, Ron 👍
